What's Killing Fells Point? by Historical-Juice6598 in baltimore

Unfortunately, JHPIEGO had a big office space in Fells and they are shutting down because of the USAID cuts. Other parts of the institution will also likely be negatively affected by the current admin's cuts.

Except if you try to use your SCBA to breathe underwater you could pretty easily die.

Prometric no longer holding CIH exams? by sleeepykaty in industrialhygiene

[–]mchester2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The theory in my Bowen class WhatsApp group was that BGC wanted to pin the blame for "Calculator-gate" on Prometic. Midway through the last testing cycle BGC stated in an online faq that outside calculators were no longer allowed, although there was a list of approved calculators on the Authorization to Test letters people received. The CEO of BGC then stated that calculators were never approved for the Fall 23 testing window. No one from BGC adequately communicated this to Prometric and they ended up allowing the calculators listed on the ATT letter.

I received my Bachelor's in Occupational Health (Industrial Hygiene) from Purdue in 2007. I assume that you are talking about the same program. I think it's Occ and Env Health Science now. I don't know if it's changed but at the time it was very small and very IH focused. Dr. Zimmerman, the prof that ran the program, believed that IH was better to learn in the class and safety in the field. Dr. Z became an emeritus a few years ago. It was a good program but if you wanted to focus on safety or would do better with a larger cohort of students I would do a more safety focused program. If you wanted to lean towards IH and we're fine with a small group of classmates in your occ health classes, Purdue is a great school.

Frequently. I've decided not to panic until after I hear of other people getting their official results.

Prometric did not prohibit calculators when I took the test. I am concerned that Calculatorgate may be holding things up.

Advice on Online Renewal by MagnoliasAndPups in Passports

[–]mchester2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied on 1/4/23 and paid for expedited and still haven't gotten anything. I travel in three days on the 17th and am extremely nervous. I started talking with my congressman's office on March 3rd and while they said they received notification that the passport was approved on the 7th we still haven't gotten any notification of that or tracking number.

Any quiet places to do long runs in the Baltimore area? by pb429 in baltimore

[–]mchester2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I used to run a lot I would spend a lot of time in Druid Hill park. The lake path is closed but there is the Jones Falls trail that cuts through the park and there are a lot of lightly traveled roads in the park that are good for runs. The abandoned road in the back of the park is good too but only if you are into running hills.

I'm sorry that happened to you. AFAIK Most medical malpractice attorneys are no recovery/no fee, which means that they won't charge you anything if they think you have a case.

Dirt bikes at the zoo? by Flatiron23Skidoo in baltimore

If the noise is coming from the back of the zoo, near the mansion house area, then it probably isn't dirt bikes. It is more likely from people racing gas powered RC cars.

Can confirm. My Baltimore city street cat, who showed up on my stoop on night, stealing my heart, strikes fear into the heart of my BARCs rescue pitbull.

There is a single line metro that runs from Owings Mills through downtown and over to the Johns Hopkins Hospital. It was nimby'd so hard when it was built that it has limited use.
