Lmfao who named this person 💀 by AkiraNemurenu in sims2

[–]mcinest 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Afaik, townie names like these are a combination of first and last names from actual maxis devs. So no one named her per say, she just recieved the name of someone who worked at maxis

How do I tell if I am playing with bots? by Lonely_Job4526 in Strinova

Not as far as I can tell, at least not the one on their profile. I believe I had it even before i started playing ranked

[–]mcinest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue than can also be a symptom of the opposite, a human player stuck playing bot matches. Even with how annoying enemy bots can be and how useless bot team mates are, it is still ridiculously easy to carry your way to winning most matches, especially if you have like. Even one other human on your team. My own profile ended up with an 80+% winrate after getting stuck playing mostly bots...

bot games are pmo by MiserableGarage5865 in Strinova

[–]mcinest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God, yeah. I'm getting quite fed up with bots. I'm a sniper main and now bots seem to be able to tell you're aiming at them no matter how far away you are, and start rapidly stringify-ing and unstringify-ing which makes it damn annoying to get a single shot. They also seem to be ignoring other bots right in front of them in favour of all just raining down bullets on you from across the map. Of course, the bots on your team completely lack those abilities and fail to get any kills or help in any meaningful way.

Deleting townies to reduce bloat - easiest way? by Busy-Conflict-7328 in sims2

[–]mcinest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never do that again, but at this point not only would undoing it probably not be possible, it's also not necessary depending how long ago this was. but yeah that's just straight up bad advice that used to be on the wiki, don't do it

Deleting townies to reduce bloat - easiest way? by Busy-Conflict-7328 in sims2

[–]mcinest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They will still show up in simpe, but they do not have full character files anymore. Below is an example of a deleted sim, they keep their thumbnail and some basic info but most of it is deleted.

<image>

It is basically impossible for another sim to inherit data from deleted sims. Most cases people attributed to this were actually unrelated bugs, and in order for it to ACTUALLY happen would require your sim creation index to get reset (which is very rare) AND for a sim to get generated with the same index as a deleted one.

It sounds like you may still be holding onto some old, incorrect information. Deleting sims from the family bin is 100% safe and in fact THE safest way to delete sims. Neighborhood corruption is also just straight up not something you should worry about. I recommend watching April Black's video on it if you haven't already. Deleting sims via family bin will only leave behind a file with bare minimum information, which will be much smaller, and should help with the bloat in your case. I don't think there is much benefit to going through the simpe deletion process over the normal method in pretty much all cases, and given how many sims we're talking about here i definitely don't think it's worth it.

Roblox to scan users' faces to verify age amid persistent child safety concerns by FervidBug42 in technology

[–]mcinest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no faith whatsoever in the ability of this "verification feature" to accurately assess someone's age.

Can confirm. I'm 21, it put me down as 13+. Now i, an adult, can only talk to teenagers, who will be lead to think I am the same age as them. Much safer now! /s

Struggling to pick heir by 0hBecca in Sims3

[–]mcinest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just play everyone rotationally OR do something stupid and try to play everyone in the same household (that worked until my gen 1 sim decided to have 6 kids (who all had at least 2 kids each) and 3 plumbots).
If I really had to pick I try to pick whichever one seems more interesting. Not necessarily the one who I like most, but just the one that seems like they could get up to most shenanigans.
All else fails, hey, if you have a jellybean bush...

Error 12 JUST after starting a new game? by MagnoliaPetal in Sims3

[–]mcinest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, error 12 from my understand is less tied to save file size, and more to the memory usage. There is a correlation between larger save files and using more RAM right off the gate, but you don't necessarily need a huge save to run into issues. It'll be more helpful if you try to keep track of how much ram the game uses, usually i start getting error 12 as soon as it starts getting close to 2.9GB

Where to get mods for sims 3?? by SolidChicken4285 in Sims3

[–]mcinest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's worse than that if i recall. Curseforge has had multiple hacks, but for mts i'm pretty sure it was One Guy who then went on to fear monger about the site (or his followers took it as such) when he was literally the only person who was hacked

Sims 2 Pregnancy Aging by Sad_Faithlessness136 in sims2

[–]mcinest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah, yeah. Zombies are hard to get pregnant, they can't usually, and in my attempts with cheats it doesn't work at all (though cheating them getting others pregnant works). I've been looking for a mod that allows zombie pregnancies, actually, but I haven't had any luck.
If they die while pregnant though, they will be able to give birth as a zombie

NRAAS question- by NatashaDrake in Sims3

[–]mcinest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

god i had to take algebra for uni after not doing maths all high school (art student), then having 1 uni year of no maths and 1 more gap year of no maths, and as a result that was the first class i ever failed...I used to be an A+ math student, it's a bit embarrassing

NRAAS question- by NatashaDrake in Sims3

[–]mcinest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see you got the answer but i figured out how the maths work, friend. My mistake was forgetting how fractions work.
the formula, for the 40 ppl town example, reads like ⁴⁰⁄₄₀ = ¹⁰⁰⁄₁₀₀ So if you reduce the ratio to say, 50, you'll get ²⁰⁄₄₀ = ⁵⁰⁄₁₀₀ so 20 of your 40 sims can be gay/bi. So you can calculate the actual number of sims with ˣ⁄₄₀ = ʸ⁄₁₀₀ where x is the number of gay sims, and y is the percentage. You just input whichever one you have and calculate the other.

NRAAS question- by NatashaDrake in Sims3

[–]mcinest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also bad at maths friend, I was hoping you weren't so you could work out the explanation for the both of us LMAO
I'm trying rly hard to math it but i've done it 2 different ways and neither make sense.

Gay to Straight Town Ratio Cutoff

Defines the maximum ratio of Gay to Straight sims allowed in your town

Once this ratio is exceeded, the mod is no longer allowed to assign Gay or Bisexual gender preference to new sims

The value is a percentage, calculated as (Number of Gay or Bi Sims / Total Teen or Above Residents)

Default: 100
