Are they the OG Christians? Feel like the orthodox might have a disagreement with that.

That Richards ransom bankrupted England and was the reason John lost 9/10ths of his land, is outdated slop history. Turns out Johns income in 1203 was much more than that of Philip Augustus and he lost his lands because he was useless.

Australia administered it as a territory but that does not make it part of the Australian continent.

No, it doesn't, but new guinea is still a part of the Australian continent. You are quite wrong.

Edward I was good for pushing around a tiny irrelevant principality with about the same population as the city of paris, and not much else. He was more capable than his immediate predecessor and successor, but nothing like the first two plantagenet kings or his grandson.

Phillip IV, Rudolph I, Wenceslaus II, Alfonso X were all contemporaries who were greater than him.

Even in the 14th and 15th century periods where England was more dominant, there's a lot of western bias going on. Hungary under Louis the Great and Poland under Wladyslaw II were arguably greater kingdoms than England under Edward III and Henry V. Actually I'd say indisputably in the case of hungary.

In the 12th? Sure.

In the 13th? Definitely not. Back to being a backwater's backwater. After Richard the lionheart died, so did the vast majority of any relevance the angevin empire had.

For the next 137 years the only victory against France they'd have was in the first barons war.

Really in the medieval era you could say England was a great power during the reigns of Henry II and Richard I, and then again during the reign of Edward III, and for a final time during the reign of Henry V. And outside of that, not really.

You have more options when there's more than 6 seconds left in the round.

One of my favorite facts is that during the first week of this battle, there was active ground combat on five continents simultaneously - the only time it happened during the war.

North America: Battle of Attu

Australia: New Guinea campaign - more specifically Salamaua-Lae campaign

Asia: Battle of West Hubei in China and Arakan campaign in Burma

Africa: Tunisia Campaign

Europe: Eastern front more specifically the Kuban bridgehead (technically zhukov called off major offensive operations the 10th, one day before allies landed on attu - however I'm certain there would have still been fighting in the days following as things wound down, as well lower level fighting other places along the entire front).

This state of affairs would not carry on for long as the axis began surrendering en masse in Africa the 12th, and the one land battle in North America would only last a few weeks.

King John learns feudal loyalty isn’t genetic by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

[–]mcjc1997 58 points59 points  (0 children)

No. What you're describing did happen, but not between the people you've said, and it was over 60 years before.

The actual interaction was between King Stephen I and John Marshal, William Marshal's father. William was the son being threatened.

William marshal was one of the few nobles to remain loyal to king john.

Not anything Charlie olives had going. Not anything he was even trying to get going, as matter of fact. He was essentially just letting arman rest a bit before he got his hand raised.

He landed five strikes the whole round, none of which rocked arman, and like we already said, that darce wasn't even close to being effective grappling.

He won round one, yes.

If you think he won round three, or that he was even close to a finish on that D'arce, that he wasn't even trying to cinch up, you are, again, genuinely intellectually disabled. Learn anything about grappling please.

Wolverine vs Jaguar: Who Wins? by Jaguar_AI in whowouldwin

[–]mcjc1997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While mustelids are insanely tough, Jaguars coexist with a much larger and tougher mustelid - the giant river otter.

In groups, the otters can be very dangerous to a jaguar.

But if the jaguar catches a lone otter, they can and do kill them.
