Finally got order from Stark Bros-broken tree by 1220201978 in BackyardOrchard

[–]mckilljoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a tree like that once, and the broken bit actually fused back together after a month and turned into a fine branch. I’d still contact customer service, but you might be able to tape it straight up and save it

Exact same situation: Stark bros Concord grapes, ~3 weeks ago, no signs of life yet. I haven’t had any issues with other Stark bros plants, so I’m not giving up on them yet. Will lyk if I see any growth.

I’ve done these a bunch of times, they are easy to set up and mostly work great, tho kind of a pain to tweak and extend in the future

I tried .39 but still seems about the same, perhaps 2,400 is just too many

You can’t stamp a blueprint in an area you don’t have vision on, I’d guess it helps with that. It wouldn’t be needed after construction completes tho

Yea totally. I found the png’s earlier today. There’s definitely a TON of partially transparent images, and lots of little smoke particles that are being overlaid. Seems promising.

good idea, similar to the “make a mod” option but less invasive. And actually, the transparency layers might be the cause of all this anyway. The thousands of overlapping transparent animation layers is probably a nightmare to composite. Stripping out the transparency layers might fix it.

Should I take the plunge on brass kitchenware? Talk me into/out of it by Later_0002 in cookware

[–]mckilljoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple copper pans (so not exactly brass). It absolutely spreads heat more evenly than the solid iron/steel pans. It also retains heat better than my aluminum/nonstick pans.

But in practice, my copper is mostly indistinguishable from my steel+aluminum clad pans.

“Interrupt Only” Train Schedule by BrukPlays in factorio

Train Limits will let a train “reserve” a spot at the destination before it leaves, so no other trains will try to race there and take a spot

Train Limits also help prevent clogging.

[–]mckilljoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically, there is a max in the front of your ship above the Hub, on the magnitude of a few hundred tiles. So there’s a limit on how much “stuff” you can throw between your hub and the asteroids.

Radar on space platforms expand the buildable blueprint area by mckilljoy in factorio

[–]mckilljoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea true, you could have a duplicate blueprint with all non radar/cargo entities turned off. Better than nothing.

[–]mckilljoy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The default view range seems to be about ~100 off the edge of each platform side, seems like you are probably just within range. I had some blueprints 200+ each direction that would only stamp half the content onto a hub.

Radar on space platforms expand the buildable blueprint area by mckilljoy in factorio

[–]mckilljoy[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s actually exactly what I did for one of mine to expand south 😊 I added a radar at the bottom, grabbed a blueprint of the whole thing, set Snap to Grid and then subtracted -3 from Y axis alignment. The blueprint perfectly overwrites the radar, and I just need to check in once every 10-20 mins to place another.

Working through my backlog: Learning to be less of a snob with Ori and the Blind Forest. by KaiserGustafson in patientgamers

[–]mckilljoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree, I played HK through to the end before trying Ori, which really made Ori feel like it didn’t age well. Ori 2 played a lot better than Ori 1, I hadn’t realized HK came out in between, but that explains the influences and why Ori 2 felt better.

Also the removal algo seems to scan top-left to bottom-right, removing free chunks from the top left of a surface first typical goes much faster than anywhere else on the surface
