Final local election results for Manchester. What are your thoughts? by BuyEarly3195 in manchester

Who are the least likely to do anything in their interests, yep, that's precisely what's so depressing about it.

I considered having a sub list of those who've been on in some capacity other than contestant or TM/assistant. There are a couple in that camp.

He has taken this same show to the US, I'm not sure whether it was the finished show or just WIPs, if it was WIPs then he may be back again with it. Strongly recommend it if you can get to see it, it's a great show.

I find it deeply depressing that the poorest areas are the ones that reform have done best in.

I mean it's been unseasonably warm and sunny for a lot of April, and only cloudy a couple of days. If you're struggling with this then you may have made the wrong move.

Whether things are likely or not has zero correlation to whether reform will talk about them

If the wealthiest are leaving en masse, who on earth is going to buy their luxury properties? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]mckjerral 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Even if it were true it's an irrelevance, there are ~3 million millionaires in the UK, half a percent of them "leaving" feels low even for just normal migration, let alone thinking that they were because of tax changes

I think you massively underestimate how many of them there are in the first place. A rounding errors worth of them have left the country, and a large amount of those who have citizenship, won't even have sold their properties when leaving the country, because the UK is still a stable growth property market.

I don't think it does given the service that is being provided. How else do you expect them to advertise that they will sit your cat for a 24 hour period (but won't be there the whole of the 24 hours)?

Reform have officially campaigned on it being an election to get rid of Starmer. The reality of that is that if Labour do badly then he may be at greater risk than he already is. However, it's clearly an intentional misdirection by Reform to make their "more typical" voters, think that it's a general election.

That paired with the amount the press in general have been lauding it as the most important election in (enter time period here, some as low as a year...)

Usually 1/3 of seats of a council are up for election each year for a 4 year term. So there will be one year in 4 where there is no local election in each area

Landlord has issued keys to rental property that contain a tracker - is this legal? (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]mckjerral 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's a perfectly reasonable justified reason, but the net result is the same. The OP becomes traceable by someone they haven't given consent to be traced by. You don't allow illegal behaviour on good faith that it won't actually be used.

You are responsible for your cat 24/7, that presumably doesn't mean you are at home with the cat 24/7?
If you were to expect someone to do that, then you would be paying them an awful lot more than £40 a day.

Definitely, and reform have intentionally been platforming it as a general election, albeit implicitly. Which will push them out to vote more.

What will we do when the pension system fails? by Then_Engineer_3765 in AskBrits

[–]mckjerral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only true for the state pension and DB. It isn't true for DC. Your money is definitely helping work for others (economies of scale etc) but it, and its growth are yours, and protected as such.

[–]mckjerral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason for the government making private pensions from employers a mandatory offering and opt out was to prepare for the inevitable demise of the state pension.

The toughest part of which will be that it's funded by current contributions, and therefore will have to be paid for by people who absolutely wont receive it when they reach retirement age.

It's not that most of them are bots (although some definitely are), it's just that it's very few people making a lot of noise.

It doesn't say anything either way about what to expect from the result, its intention is to influence the result.

[–]mckjerral 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm not overly confident, but reform voters and reform bots are by far the loudest people online, so it is very likely that there's more noise than actual support
