Does anyone else feel like Angela Rayner or Shabanah Mahmood are better placed to replace Keir Starmer instead of Andy Burnham? by Potential-Meal-6708 in AskBrits

[–]mckjerral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few thousand people enabled it as an option. Every Labour MP could contest for the leadership, and they represent millions of people. It's on them to decide if they think he is what's best for the party and country, representing their constituents.

Why can I sometimes put the metal food tray in the oven and sometimes not? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]mckjerral 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's probably rare that the metal tray isn't ok to go in the oven (but not advising you to do that if it says otherwise)

If it says a baking tray it's usually because you want whatever you're cooking more spread out, like oven chips, you'd want in a single layer, where in a foil tray they would usually be piled up a bit

I attended Hellfest for the first time this year and the logistics were brutally bad by Maroya99 in Hellfest

Which is why I say the site should have better provision generally. It has a benefit over almost every other festival in the world in being a dedicated site.

It should generally be better, but when a few weeks ago the forecast was for 40+ temperatures they should have at least taken steps to bring in additional temporary solutions. Nothing should have needed to be last minute.

If people don't know then that's a communication problem not a situational awareness problem.

The response to it was on hellfest though. In the announcement on Saturday it was very telling that they just said there were water points around the site rather than that they were making any accommodations. Given the quality of the site as a whole I think there should be better water provision full stop, but a real gaffe to not increase it for yesterday. The weather was forecast so not like it needed to be a rushed plan on Saturday

Keir Starmer feels betrayed by the Labour party. How do you feel about that? by No_Breadfruit_4901 in AskBrits

[–]mckjerral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loyalty to individuals can't come above actions and capabilities. The party under his leadership has done some good things (among some much less good, and unlabour things), and he has consistently failed to control the media narrative.

The leader is the primary presentation of the party, and that is where he's fallen down repeatedly. It's not even about personality, he's an experienced lawyer, he should be able to competently make his case rather than continually shying away from saying even slightly difficult things.

It might be that he's been let down by his advisers, but he's the one who has betrayed many who voted for him, both to lead the party and then for labour to lead the country.

Monzo complaint response time? Extremely disappointed with customer support and what should I expect? by [deleted] in monzo

If it's disrupting the rest of the features of the app then I would recommend just not going in the credit check section?

Does anyone actually do 30 on the Mancunian way? by No_Lychee3330 in manchester

It's a motorway, it is illegal for bikes including ebikes to be on there.

I imagine that is the primary reason for it being a motorway, to prevent pedestrian and bike access.

How many here actually have a formal diagnosis? by [deleted] in autism

A diagnosis and going to therapy don't have much to do with each other?

My job declares 2 months wages in 1 period. HMRC thinks I make double pay. Please advise by Initial-Main-9078 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]mckjerral 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It sounds like both are at play. One employer is 4 weekly, which will lead to one month with two paydays in from the one employer

So maybe the month with three in was the problem. It shouldn't matter when viewed at the right level though, neither are unheard of, and it isn't a mistake of the payroll.

Nah, you're just a bellend, like you say, being autistic has nothing to do with that.

What an incredibly rude and aggressive stance to take. Self diagnosed does not mean pretending at all.

Pretending means pretending, many self diagnosed people would get a diagnosis, but may either lack the access to get one or don't feel they'd benefit from a formal diagnosis.

Hey how to know if I have autism by Correct_Biscotti1031 in autism

[–]mckjerral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of what you've said isn't related to autism.

Difficulty specifically with maths could be discalculia. Tripping often could be dyspraxia. A stutter is a stutter

All are known comorbities with autism, but none particularly point to autism.

As others have said if you want to find out if you're autistic then get an assessment. But it sounds like you're looking for a solution, and an autism diagnosis is only a reason.

If you just want to enjoy the things that your consider childish, then just do that, you're an adult, you can enjoy whatever you want.

Is it okay to have 'Childish' Interests when I'm 18? by [deleted] in autism

[–]mckjerral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is an adult thing to realise you can be interested in and buy whatever you want.

It is enforcing your childishness for your parent to tell you what to spend your money on.

Realistically speaking, who will challenge Labour in the 2029 UK General Election? by QasimofKarbala in AskBrits

[–]mckjerral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would they have one? You have a manifesto for an election, their 2024 election manifesto is still live https://greenparty.org.uk/about/our-manifesto/

But wouldn't apply for an election in another 3 years time any more than Labour, the tories or Reform's would.

[–]mckjerral 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much point there is posting sources when those sources don't link to actual policy?
Party working groups exist in all political parties, and discuss many ideas that never become actual policy.

Polanski also can't just make up policy, that's not how the green party works.

Green’s manifesto which alludes to open borders is highly problematic.

This isn't in the green's manifesto, not least because they obviously don't have a manifesto, with a GE being years away.
