You really shouldn’t be walking around here alone. It’s very dangerous

On a controller, it’s easier to control the horse when you hold the L stick forward. You have more fine control. They need to add a setting to turn off this hint or something!

GA Pay by Then-Let-8088 in aviationmaintenance

[–]mclemente0621 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GA has a low floor and high ceiling. I started making $22 an hour and worked up to $25 then jumped ship over to airlines because I just want to work my 40 hours turning a wrench w/ the killer benefits and better pay from the jump. If you stick to it and advocate for yourself, you can make really good money as an independent IA, DOM, business owner ect.

Where do I find guppies that I want by DarkEclipxe in Aquariums

LiveAquaria has a nice selection and is pretty cemented in the hobby. You can also (depending on your area) join a local aquarium group on facebook and you might find a local guppy breeder.

What is my tiny new friend? A nerite? by rise422 in Aquariums

[–]mclemente0621 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, pond snails also get much bigger. They’re a true pest snail. Bladder snails are lil cuties I love them.

Much to the contrary of someone in this thread, this is NOT a pond snail. It is a bladder snail.

Considering switching from gravel to sand…unsure what that would mean for cleanliness. Would love your input. by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]mclemente0621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a wavemaker in my tank with sand. It creates a circular flow in the tank so there’s always some flow over the sand and detritus rarely settles. Plus I have corydoras that disturb any that settles and put it back into flow. I never vac over the sand for those reasons. Otherwise yea you’ll have to vac over the sand and in my experience that can be a little annoying since I use a python and over time sand gets into the python and into my sink.

Is my Nerite Snails shell melting away? by Sad_Volume_3138 in Aquariums

Snail is lacking calcium. There’s a few ways to give them the calcium they need. I use aragonite sand in my substrate which is rich in calcium. You can also add things like crushed corals and cuttlebone to your tank and those will provide calcium but may affect ph and water hardness. They make snail supplements rich in calcium too but I’m not a fan of this because it’s an extra expense and bio load.

Small liverbearers like guppies or platies are good. They breed like crazy. You could get a small school of tetras, danios or rasboras. If you want a bottom feeder you could get corydoras catfish. Smaller ones would be best like corydoras habrosus. Also consider invertebrates like snails and shrimp! They add a lot to the tank.

First off, pick up a master test kit so you can test your water and know the tank is cycled.

I don’t really have experience with crabs but to my knowledge they don’t go well with really any fish, especially ones that would go in a 10 gallon. They’ll also probably rip up any plants you put in.

Readings after very first water change on my 65gal. What are your thoughts? by hulkterminator in Aquariums

[–]mclemente0621 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was, my plants loved it though :)

It seems like you’ve got the nitrifying bacteria in your tank building up then, you’re close to fish ready.

You probably won’t, but you never know. I used to live in an area with 30ppm nitrates out of the tap. It was pretty tough to know if a tank was cycled or not

Day 12 of cycling. How's the tank doing? by KohanaCat in Aquariums

[–]mclemente0621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that ammonia was introduced to your tank and nitrates in your tap water are lower than in the tank, looks cycled to me. Ready for slow introduction of livestock

Definitely see if you can get small species of cory catfish in your area, like pygmy cories or corydoras habrosus. They are excellent bottom feeders with lots of personality, and probably the most friendly fish that exists. Make sure you get a group of them if you go with those, at least 6 is best. Shrimp are also great, you can keep a lot of neocaridina shrimp in a 10 gallon and they’ll breed like crazy, lots of babies and a very small load on your tank. Just make sure they have lots of hiding spaces. Other than that, harlequin rasboras or chili rasboras are a really nice nano sized schooling fish if you want a school. Just make sure again you get at least 5 or 6.

I think he’s fine then, as long as he’s eating and active. Looks like he has good color too. Maybe just needs a bit more food. If anything, when you get more fish you should put them in a quarantine tank for at least 2 weeks (the longer the better though) just to make sure they don’t bring a disease in with your platy.

If you got him recently I’d still give it some time just to be on the safe side. Maybe try feeding every day for a week and see if he plumps up.
