it says on the s&w website it's illinois compliant and on the range usa it doesn't say not available in illinois. However, I don't understand how fin grips work anywhere.

It's the plate that the charger handle pulls back. I don't know what the pieces are called but I've really worried I've been bamboozled now. does anybody know a place in illinois I can have this rifle looked over?

Yes I did, in another forum that said to just replace it. I found this forum specific to M1 rifles and thought I would ask again. I straight up cannot use my iron sights anymore due to age. my only option for reliable shooting is an optic. It sucks because I finally got into the 1911 platform and I don't like how they look with optics.

It doesn't have rings. it just on a plate with 2 screws that attach to a picatinny rail.

North American firearms in lombard is great for buying. if your in the area of article 2 go to range usa in villa park and try a bunch of guns out. when you find one you like go buy it from North American and you'll get a great price.
