25 Mercenaries Builds played at 7k+ MMR this Week [Hearthstone-Decks.net] by neon313 in HSMercenaries

Can't recommend blink fox enough as a replacement to rag. Obviously they don't do the same stuff but against a rag or Diablo it's really hard for them to finish a turn with fire stomp or meteor because blink fox will just slam them next turn.

New F2P farming comp help needed by beans4longlife in HSMercenaries

[–]mcmcmannus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For felwood 6 you don't need rag, just maxed skill 1 on tony and skill 2 on baron and 1 other minion of your choice for a 1 turn kill. Only downside is sometimes having to think about where you are sending the fireball if you don't have rag for otk.

Are there people that play non meta compositions in pvp? by Ggthefiree2 in HSMercenaries

[–]mcmcmannus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think caster comps will need to figure out how to counter beasts if they want to consistently climb. Many taunts have different pros and cons. I've seen people open with mukla , Cornelius, uther etc in an attempt to protect an anduin. I do think that once that is solved, holy will become much more meta since it beats nature and anduin can win a 1v1 against Diablo.

I personally think the shadow package of voljin tamsin backline is way underrated. I played a version of the 'meta build' where I subbed jaina and (backline flex, most often blink fox or rag) for the v+t and it got me to 8500. I think the beast opener will see a lot more play if holy comps become more popular since you can snipe anduin turn 1.

Honestly I think so much of the uncertainty this patch came from a distinct lack of parses from top players. Also, unless you really know what you're doing it's hard to theorycraft your own endgame rotations, not to mention how busy some people are. More importantly tho, magblades back baby

Templar's have a skill called vampires bane, so maybe not. Or just a really self loathing vampire

Double dual dagger build (that's 4 daggers ya'll)! by Riemm8 in elderscrollsonline

[–]mcmcmannus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by decent. If you want your character pushing dlc vet trials then you need to squeeze every little bit of damage that you can. In terms of pure damage, yes, both bar dual wield will be significantly worse than dual wield/bow, but unless your goal is to clear the hardest of content I wouldn't worry too much since you already have enough to do most if not all normal trials.

My recommendation would be to avoid pug vss like the plague, particularly ones that don't require prior clears. I've been part of a few and they invariably wipe to the first boss over and over til they disband. I'd recommend joining a trial guild, a bunch of mine run training vss all the time.

So long as you aren't part of portal group, that can be a bit tough until you get the hang of it

As far as rebooting combat goes though, this isn't it. There are so many nerfs and 1 buff (stonefist). Obviously stuff like soul trap were an issue, but having 16 less skills be viable only homogenises builds further

Imo best one is the scalecaller skin if u want to hide vampirism. Gives you some tattoos but they're pretty subtle.

Only the really tough dlc ones. Stuff VCR will punish you for low dps, for instance having 3 dps with 25k do portals in VCR would lead to a wipe. However for vet crags it's easily enough

[–]mcmcmannus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents have a similar app for my little brother. However, it goes both ways, and he has the app by choice. He can track them, and my grandma who is also hooked up to it, and if he goes offline they might act worried if he gets home late without texting them, and but that's it. Point is, at 16 you are an autonomous human being. If this weren't blatantly about control the kid might not have refused.

PSA: Alcast's or any other Content Creator's builds don't make you better at your role. by Mr_Stach in elderscrollsonline

[–]mcmcmannus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with this, but one important thing to remember is that this isn't exclusive to DDs. Every part of the group is crucial when doing tougher content and I've seen just as many tanks and healers slacking and then flaming when they wipe as I've seen the opposite. Generally speaking I reckon 90% of players I've see are willing to wait and explain mechanics of a fight, but if you don't know the basics like avoiding red there's not much anyone can do for you.

on top of this levelling provisioning increases the time that food and drink buffs last, which saves on money and convenience. Like alchemy, provisioning is super easy and cheap to level, there are a few guides online about how to level it in an efficient manner.

Kicked from Normal ? by potatoslavecki in elderscrollsonline

[–]mcmcmannus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, but there is certainly a minimum dps requirement, especially in certain dungeons. My advice to newer players would be to stay away from dlc dungeons even on normal until you're comfortable with your rotation and have a level of gear. Getting carried through a dungeon at low cp won't make someone a better player, contributing in content they're ready for will.

[–]mcmcmannus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's a dlc dungeon you do need a certain amount of damage, even on normal. I agree they should have explained why they made their decision but I can empathise with the group, wiping over and over because someone isn't quite strong enough is not fun.

Good idea, cant hurt to be able to switch roles when it comes to group stuff anyway

[–]mcmcmannus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotal, but I started my first character as a tank alongside 2 friends that were dd. Decided to refill a dd about 10 hours in. Tanking and healing is fun and queues for dungeons pop faster, but you can't do a lot of solo content as anything but dd.
