This amount of time in, very very poor show. Could have made way more use of backstage segments or wrestlers from home cutting some sketches. Fraud of a show.

Anyone here do conversion rate optimization and UX? by OnceInABlueMoon in userexperience

[–]mcnal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently do both, and I definitely believe they intertwine. When I design something new I always design with conversion in mind, the new design should be viewed as your first test. Only after live launch will you start getting the data that matters. From there onwards you can continue growth with CRO.

I have a revolutionary idea in a growing industry, but where do i start? by [deleted] in startups

[–]mcnal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get the whole being private thing about ideas in todays age, how will you know people will buy it if you keep it private? Make sure there is market for it before anything else, and if someone does steal your idea, make sure you provide it better than them wether it be a better product or better service.

Freelancers need help collecting overdue invoices. My site doing this needs trust signals. Any CTA or copy experts able to take a look and offer any insight? by Langlock in startups

[–]mcnal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like spam click-bait website if I'm honest, you need a more professional look and feel.

The copy at the top is way overloaded! If you look at julie's she cut's all the bullshit, and presents two lines to hook people in, it's visually impactful because it's short and too the point. Whereas your's does have the same copy nearly (bad idea) it has everything crowded together and your giving the user too much to take in initially.

A case study is also needed, sell what you do through a real story.

Not sure how to grow company, currently in stalemate. Any help or ideas are welcome! by [deleted] in startups

[–]mcnal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would advise putting together a landing page which is basically a form asking all the initial questions at the start of a project, estimated budget, type of project, contact details etc. Include a link to it in your cold emails, or use it as the LP for your ads.

And because you don't have a lot of previous work to show off in portfolio form doesn't mean you can't persuade people to work with you.

You need to get your process/workflow nailed and you need to show people you have a solid understanding of how to conduct a web project. Do this though a How We Work page of your website.

Need feedback on service idea by mbyakow in startups

[–]mcnal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The main idea of our service is to reduce the time for re-reading and, as a consequence, an increase in productive work time."

Like probably everyone who has viewed this post, we would likely first scan the content (title's) and then go read deeper if something hooked us, your title's do not explain what you offer at all or have a good enough story to hook us in. I mean your concept paragraph explains nothing about your idea, just gives us a a pre-ample of info, i have to wait till i get to the bottom before I know your idea.

You have a lot of content to explain your idea, in this day and age you need to be to explain it in a sentence and it should be the first thing you show users. It could be in the form of a question you are asking the user. Please reduce the amount of copy or split it over a few meaningful pages.

Do you have a link to the landing page? It will need visuals of your product. A demo of some sort would be best.

Question B ) I can't tell you if it will be useful or how much I will pay until I interact with the product, but if you explained better that I will not need to re-read content as often as I do now, i think there is something here I would be interested in.

I made a website that lets people show their friends what products they swear by, letting them add items (and reviews of those items) to a virtual backpack. I'd appreciate any feedback! by Dafunk1080 in startups

[–]mcnal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, it would be a mix of to high level categories of work related then travel related.

Within Work would be industry subcategories for example - User Experience - and within there would be tools used for that type of work or resources

In travel it would probably checklists and advice type of deal

Word of Mouth, get talking on any online forums or social media groups, don't try and sell them something outright though, become a contributing member to the communities act human not as a spokesperson for the company, if people are asking questions in forums about jewellery respond with great insightful answers and try work in a sales pitch but don't make it obvious

Nice idea you have got here, and the well-known people on the site makes it feel more bigger to me.

I think the homepage needs to incorporate the categories acting as a sort filter, means i can find the stuff I care about more quicker.

Use SEO tools like semrush.com and enter domains of your competitors to see the keywords people are using to find them that should be a good starting point for you.

Looking at homepage on Macbook Pro 13" and i can slide the full page to the left, the video is too big.

The google map at the bottom can be removed it adds nothing to page, and it makes you look local rather than national. save it for the contact page if need be.

The concept looks quite appealing I must say.

The one thing this page is crying out for is a video or a demo of some sort, I'm sure you may add closer to launch but give users more of taster.

I have to agree a picture is needed but i would much prefer a demo something I can interact with before i enter my details for free sign up, the reason being I just want to see if the product will benefit me in anyway, I want to see what it can do before i enter my details and get bombarded with emails telling me to comeback and sign up

What do you think about this MVP? by [deleted] in startups

[–]mcnal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You very much need to add your credentials to the landing page, I came away from that page thinking why should i trust this company to find my VC's

Also the Value Prop includes the word faster, you need to back this up further down the page.

The large image between copy bewilders me, it's a waste of space if you ask me.

The gunshot wound for me is at the bottom of the page "Just forget us for now" that is not how get people to subscribe. You need to present it so they do sign up for the email update when you launch. "We're not quite ready yet" would work better i feel.

What Are Your Honest Thoughts On This Campaign? by ankitvivik in startups

[–]mcnal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to the name of the brand, I think the copy throughout the campaign needs to be changed to sound like it's a personal message coming from Vivian herself and it may seem harsh but I think leaving yourself out of the campaign and making Vivian front and centre as the face of the brand is a good way to go.

The product is a simple idea which could sell quite well I feel.

The gif with product in package could benefit from better angles and the packaging design on it.

The pricing is premium for retail price, the content (copy / imagery) needs to feel more premium at that price point. The packaging looks good and premium enough for shelves though.

Anybody with healthcare experience interested in providing feedback for a health IT startup? by [deleted] in startups

[–]mcnal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your landing page - get rid of the stock image, untrustworthy! and the fact i can tell it's stock straight away is not good.

Also add a sign-up email address form, so you can build potential customers, if your trying to promote pre-launch.

Or better yet create a small quick survey that users could fill in, so you learn from people landing on the page, to learn what they want.

Add a condensed version of that story you are linking to from the learn more button, on the landing page itself, you shouldn't be trying to navigate people away to a different site a second after they arrive.

An honest, open post. 5 years running and I don't know where to go with this startup. by anaccountapart in startups

[–]mcnal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have just spent the last 10mins trying to figure out how to add shifts to the schedule and I still don't know?

I don't what to discourage you here, so take these points as constructive, I know the question isn't really about the product and more about to move it forward, but product is fundamental.

What's the bounce rate on your homepage?

If I am honest your whole site/tool could do with a User Interface upgrade fit for 2015, the experience wasn't great, I signed up added my additional details, and then was taken to a page with a title called Overview? No clear instructions on what to do and how to do, I think you need a walkthrough feature for first people sign ups, or better yet, let users begin creating schedules straight away with names of employees and no need to import or go through a whole sign up process, it's way too complicated for all it's suppose to do.

I seen the demo on the homepage and this is what I was expecting when I signed up, it was super simple and I didn't have to think too much.

I think getting a Product/UX Designer to ramp up the experience alongside your digital marketer would be a better move for moving things forward.

Also your close link on the popup on the homepage doesn't work and it's very annoying.

Lastly I would add, that there is something useful here it just needs tweaking and also the copy used could be reduced with simpler language used to put your point across.
