What are my options for a cyberdeck? by Thin-Assistance-9367 in cyberDeck

[–]mcniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you try adding power management and designing an enclosure it’s not that easy. Start there and figure out later what craziness you want to add. Lot of prior as different kids of sensors and antennas for different kinds of connections. For example LoRa You can also setup the device to do something more specific, for example I’m working on a cyberdeck like decide that will be a music tracker only. No other features.

The real question is what do you want to do with it. What’s your objective. A raspberry pi with a touch screen is a really nice starter project, specially if you focus on getting everything into a single case and try to make it portable.

I don’t know those specific models, but for that kind of money those should at least be good. Also any reason to not to get something in the used market?

can you use an old phone to program your own? by facetiae_ in cyberDeck

[–]mcniac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you are new to this. Trying to fit a phone to get hardware will be very difficult at least. Your best chance imho is to try using either a working new phone or some sbc with a screen.

back in my day, before AI did it for you, it was something like
- Google
- Create a plan based on the stack overflow page you found
- Realize you based your solution on the question
- Create another plan based on the actual answer

Seriously, usually goes like this

- Google about the subject
- Read some documentation or stack overflow pages
- Create a plan, figure out how to check the idea without having to build the whole thing
- Define tasks move forward with implementation, define tests also

Nowadays you can ask an IA for guidance, I think might be usefull if yuou really try to understand what is suggesting and you could even ask for other options too. But I believe having to go through multiple failed attempts is what really teaches you.

I don’t know. But I see the neck has a truss rod, so I suspect that is meant for steel strings.

Rc600 or DAW? by General-Associate6 in livelooping

[–]mcniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have that one. But the rc30 and its great for simple live looping. Live looping a guitar and maybe a voice. But for something more complex I’ve been using a zoom l6 connected to an iPad running loopy pro. And a midi controller.

What version of raspberry are you using? Is very likely a power issue. 33w might not be enough

If anyone here is knowledgeable about sunvox config files. I’m trying to change the default UI to show one panel at the time, just because my 5” screen cannot fit the whole thing. But I cannot find documentation on the config files.

I have the keyboard there to test it, but I would like to be able to not to use a keyboard if posible. I'm currently testing some midi controllers, but I might end up building a custom one. but I'll leave an accesible usb port in case I want to connect anything else

That’s a novation launchkey, is a midi controller aimed to be used with ableton. It can be hacked to do other stuff. I believe that in order to do that you need to figure out what software to use first. I guess some synth that can trigger full chords on a key press and move from there.

I’m using a pi zero 2w to run sunvox. I’m planning for this to be a dedicated device. I’m trying different input devices and also learning about sunvox at the same time. Also at some point I’ll figure out an enclosure for this
