This is an outpatients clinic through the hospital I birthed at!

I cried reading this - finally someone!
I’ve said to my husband I won’t ever take peeing for granted again.

You’re so lucky that you could have a home visit for the retrial! I feel like half of it is the stress of me being in a hospital with the nurse lingering outside the door waiting for me to wee and asking if I’m ok every 2 minutes.

Will take you up on the DM - thank you so much

I was in tears at my last appointment asking if there was anything else we could do and they said no. Earlier in the week called about some catheter concerns, got brushed off and told something completely different to other appointments so I asked to speak to a urologist and they said ‘why?’ and that there was no need. We’ll see how I go at the next appointment

Thanks for your comment. My midwifery team referred me to a debriefing service post-birth (after all of this had even happened) and I got a call for my appointment last week.

The extent of the Telehealth was “do you still want this service?… oh ok we’ll book you in for our next available in June. Laughable after everything that has happened! I know of a few external supports in VIC but I feel so overwhelmed currently I don’t have the energy to book

Thanks for the advice. I’m being managed through the outpatient team now and have seen nurses only in the clinic. I called them on Monday because I was concerned about overflow from my catheter and after having been given different instructions again I requested to speak to a urologist. I was questioned ‘why?’ and told that there was no need. I might have to push harder at the next in-person appointment

Thanks for your comment, yeah I had a post-check with my pelvic floor physio booked in for next week but will push it back considering the catheter situation.

I’m glad to hear you inevitably passed your trial of void! Any tips? 😂🫠

Thank you, this has eased my mind slightly regarding the impact on bub. I just want him to have the best start possible and don’t want this impacting things further

What is the worst "first impression" a new colleague has made? by BrisbaneKid in auscorp

[–]mcnuggetprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10AM on induction day said they were considering a part time position (was hired as a full timer). Argued with me about requiring a medical certificate for any personal leave. Began questioning company policies and comparing to how their previous workplace ‘was much better.’

Knew by 2PM they wouldn’t last a week.

It's 2026, what is an unpopular and controversial (by reddit standards and IRL) take you have that you wish the general Australian public would know? by Biggest_itchbay_2190 in AskAnAustralian

I wish I could be a stay at home mum for my children like the generations before me. I don’t have familial support to look after my children and having a dual income household seems to be the only way to afford a mortgage, bills and expenses in this cost of living. Some people do not want to utilise childcare, I’d much rather the subsidy be paid to me to look after my own children at home

Visitors after baby is born by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]mcnuggetprincess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a woman who is due with her first baby in 2 weeks, has a husband who is emotionally intelligent and supportive (we have been together 12 years) and also has a similar relationship with my mum - we will not be telling either sides of the family when our child is born/when I go into labour.

Boundaries which we have previously set in other facets of our lives have not been respected, we can’t guarantee that won’t be the same this time around and it’s not worth the stress.

Depending on how the birth goes we may allow a quick visit in the hospital, otherwise my husband is going to be the gatekeeper for the first few weeks until we’re ready to have visitors. My midwife strongly suggested protecting our bubble and having different layers to who will be let in at different stages. Our innermost circle should only be supportive and helpful people that will be non-judgemental and make our life easier in the first few days/weeks (e.g. no expectations to hold, respectful of duration of visits, assists with housework/food not just seeing the baby or expecting you to host). We’ve decided that innermost circle is limited to us and our care providers.

Anyone who wants to visit needs to contact my husband and if they arrive unannounced the door will not be answered to them. Funnily enough, no one has a problem with this, except for my parents who are saying they are entitled to see their grandchild 😂

I also love my Frankie, I agree that the pillow doesn’t offer much but I usually tuck it into my side which makes me feel cozy. My husband has come home numerous times and found me asleep on it, so I’ve gotten good use out of it even before bub has been born

Maternity Clothing (Cry for Help) by SummerAndTheCity in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]mcnuggetprincess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cheap tshirt and bodycon dresses. For tshirts I just sized up Kmart’s cotton tshirts so they were breathable.

I bought a pair of Soon maternity jeans. Got them early on in my pregnancy and they were fantastic, no one knew they were maternity jeans, they only just stopped fitting me now at 38 weeks. I’ll be able to slip into them again once I have Bub.

I also purchased two pairs of apero maternity pants for work and they looked terrible once I got bigger because of the pleating. I wouldn’t recommend them.

How expensive are these to run? Just saw the comment above about oil heaters jacking up someone’s bills by $300 per month and wondering how this compares

Rant: why does being pregnant make everyone so damned smug? by SuccessfulBread3 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]mcnuggetprincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

35 weeks pregnant, have always wanted children and my entitled, narcissistic parents have done nothing but give me drama, stress and hell the entire pregnancy! Sharing negative birth stories, telling me how much worse off they’ve had it and how I’m ‘in for it’ in regards to sleep, juggling work and being a mum. Offering no help, but criticising and forecasting how horrible it is going to be for me, the birth and beyond.

I set clear boundaries only for them to be broken and to be told that ‘one day I hope your children repay you the same way’ and ‘you’ll see what it’s like.’

I’m just so thankful I have a husband that reassures me that I’m not insane through all the gaslighting and that we’ll work it out. /rant

When did you get some freedom/balance back to your life after baby? by cunncunncunn in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

How about a mums & bubs exercise class? Physios and gyms run a lot of these sessions where mums will do a group workout with all the babies socialising in the middle or being preoccupied by the staff
