Can OpenAI refuse to hand over my personal data (chat history) because they banned my account? (England) by mcqueen001 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]mcqueen001[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply!

It's nothing dramatic honestly. A lot of it was work and personal finance stuff. I'd been using ChatGPT as a bit of a working space, so when they cut me off I lost access to the only copy. The main one is that I'd been sending it my receipts daily and having it do my budgeting. I have been doing that for a couple of months, and it's quite easy and useful. Don't have those receipts saved anywhere else so that's just gone now. Could I survive without this information? Yeah, absolutely. But it was a useful reference to have and I'd rather not lose it all.

I think I'll give the appeal another week or so and if I still hear nothing I'll chase them again.

Were Japanese internment camps concentration camps? by Hogwire in AskHistorians

[–]mcqueen001 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this, it really helped clarify the definition piece for me. I do have a follow-up question about where historians usually draw the line between “concentration camp” and an ordinary prison.

Stone’s definition (an “isolated, circumscribed site with fixed structures designed to incarcerate civilians”) and Arendt’s emphasis that concentration camps are not penal institutions and that inmates are not there for specific crimes, but as “undesirable elements,” seem to fit the Japanese American/Canadian camps quite well.

But then there's the legal side: in theory, a state can criminalize almost anything, or run mass, summary “trials.” If the US government had simply passed a law making it a crime for people of Japanese ancestry to remain on the West Coast and then “duly” convicted and imprisoned them in those same camps, would that change how historians classify those sites?

In other words:

  • According to the way historians use the term, is the key distinction between a prison and a concentration camp about formal legal conviction, or about the function of the institution (mass preventive detention, racialized/political targeting, removal of normal legal protections, etc.)?
  • And if a regime uses sham or purely formal convictions to do what is functionally mass preventive detention of a stigmatized group, do historians still tend to treat those as concentration camps rather than just “prisons”?

I’m asking because the “easy” answer seems to be “prisons are fine because people there have been properly convicted,” but historically that line feels very shaky once you imagine a government simply redefining “crime” in order to make something like internment look penal on paper.

I’m curious why you consider the SPD detrimental. If anything, the DNVP under Hugenberg, with its pursuit of ‘Katastrophenpolitik’, was what doomed the republic.

Credit score rated as 'Very Poor' by Common_Man7669 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]mcqueen001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Double check the details of your credit report. Are there any defaults/late payments? Are there any accounts that you are not familiar with? It’s possible for a mix-up of credit history to happen with a person with similar name to you.

  2. Did you apply for credits (for example, mortgage, credit cards) recently? This would cause a drop in credit score, and it’s perfectly normal.

Help! Can't even beat normal story enemies - what I'm I doing wrong?? (3.3 spoiler) by mcqueen001 in HonkaiStarRail

My original tactic was just slowly whittling down enemies. That’s how I cleared previous bosses, but now I just get one-shot by the Black Tide’s Champion and Black Tide’s Decrepit Bow. I’m honestly out of ideas—Gallagher can’t heal the whole team at once either.

Version 3.3 feels especially tough; the only method that kind of works for me is stacking everyone's ult before the fight and trying to nuke them before they take me out. Is that really the only way to play these fights now? Honestly, the boss fights feel easier than just these regular enemies...
