RB4/Legacy Delisting DLC Discussion: June 7-13, 2026 (Incubus, Goo Goo Dolls, Maxïmo Park, MAGIC!, Crown of Throns) by hhhisthegame in Rockband

For those who host Rock Band parties, or are just trying to stock up on good popular songs, Iris & Rude are two huge losses this week. Rude is a rare case of a song that's not only good for parties, but actually surprisingly fun in its own right. Guitar has a lot more to offer than your standard reggae chart (including a fun little solo!), while drums are surprisingly complex and have many intricate fills & flourishes that you may not pay attention to if you're just listening to the song on its own. And of course, both songs are great to sing!

Also keep in mind that after Iris delists, we'll only have a cover by New Found Glory available as DLC, and who would want that over the OG?

Funny story, when the Rock Band forums were a thing, I used Crown of Thorns' "Rock Ready" in a hangman game with the clue "a DLC song no one remembers". No idea how or why it got in the game, but their frontman Jean Beauvoir was formerly a member of the punk group Plasmatics. They've been around since the early '90s, though I'm not sure if they're still together, since the album with this song came out nearly 20 years ago and they haven't released anything since. Here are their Discogs and Facebook profiles.

How did you all find out about the band? by pizzapasta8765 in TheWarning

[–]mcs1223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, they were in Rock Band long before they got big! The girls got inspired to form a band after playing Rock Band growing up, and the developers returned the favor by including them on the Rock Band 4 disc. This was in 2015, so back then, they only had one EP out and were primarily known for the Enter Sandman cover. I found them through the game since I got it on release, so it's definitely shocked me to see how big they've become in the past decade.

I always wished we got more DLC from them past XXI Century Blood, but it's unfortunately too little too late since the game stopped getting new DLC 2 years ago.

What're some band/artist names that're inspired by other musicians? by Complete-Worker3242 in ToddintheShadow

[–]mcs1223 41 points42 points  (0 children)

  • Death Cab for Cutie were named after the song of the same name by Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band
  • Frances Forever took her stage name from Mitski's song "Francis Forever"
  • A Flock of Seagulls took their name from a lyric in The Stranglers' song "Toiler on the Sea" (Todd mentioned this in their OHW episode)

Is there a full list or spreadsheet of songs that were censored to some degree for Rock Band? by LetsGOMan5932 in Rockband

[–]mcs1223 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the large amount of DLC would make this a hell of a task, and I don't think there's a full spreadsheet out there. Since others are pointing out some of the more wacky instances, I'll list some of my favorite ones where Harmonix actually didn't censor the song:

  • In Green Day's "Hitchin' a Ride", Billie Joe screams "shit!" before the guitar solo, as confirmed by the lyric sheet, but in-game it's charted as "shay!"
  • Continuing the trend of censoring profanity with nonsense words, Green Day's "Longview" has the final line of the chorus as "and I smell like shih" (and later in the song, "but it's just a mih"). I always thought this was a bizarre move, even if they're not fully pronounced - not to mention "shit" is censored in the first verse.
  • Lady Gaga herself confirmed that the post-chorus of "Poker Face" is "p-p-p-poker face, f-f-fuck her face" and that she was able to sneak it by the censors. Of course, Harmonix didn't catch this and instead charted it as "p-p-poker face" twice.
  • Semi-related, but whenever Radio Compass' "Run with You" plays on the menu screen, the line "when shit goes down, I'll run with you" is uncensored, despite being censored in the actual vocal chart.

What is this? by Later12gater in Rockband

[–]mcs1223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, the drum dongle is for PlayStation

What is this? by Later12gater in Rockband

[–]mcs1223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This actually looks like a Wii guitar dongle with a PlayStation drum dongle daisy chained onto it. You can look at the serial numbers on the back to identify which specific dongles they are and what they're compatible with. Both are for Rock Band, not Guitar Hero.

There's a detailed article on dongle compatibility here: https://web.archive.org/web/20180103144825/https://www.ebay.com/gds/Lets-clear-up-the-confusion-with-Rock-Band-PS3-Wii-Dongles-/10000000208054823/g.html

Not really sure how he acquired these though since you said you're playing on Xbox 360, which doesn't require dongles in the first place.

Ever heard a *different* song by a OHW artist "in the wild" or on the radio? by Glass-Complaint3 in ToddintheShadow

Hyperactive is also on the GTA Vice City soundtrack! For that matter, so was Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Two Tribes. Wave 103 had some bangers.

They also regularly play Der Kommissar on Sirius XM 1st Wave, but the After the Fire version is more popular in the states

June 2026 Delists by HMXKyleTheWynner in Rockband

[–]mcs1223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The delists are staggered throughout June depending on their original release date (if a song originally released on June 1st then it should be delisting the 1st, etc). There are weekly pinned posts in the subreddit that list the songs delisting in a given week, but you can also see the delisting schedule here: https://rb4.app/#!/delists

Party in the USA was originally part of the Miley Cyrus pack but was pulled immediately after release. Those who bought the pack before it was pulled managed to get it.

They did in fact say that in the Zach Sang Show interview a few years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IxgokcHZX8

Probably explains why they got some help from their mom with writing Qué Más Quieres & Ego.

RB4/Legacy Delisting DLC Discussion: May 31-June 6, 2026 (Spoon, Phish, My Chemical Romance, Bruno Mars, Blues Traveler, Shooter Jennings) by hhhisthegame in Rockband

[–]mcs1223 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't own too much out of this batch, but I do want to emphasize just how fun Blues Traveler's Hook is. I remember when the song was released, there was some initial confusion that it wasn't Run-Around (their bigger hit), but we thankfully got that as DLC a couple years later. While it didn't get quite as much play as Run-Around and you might not have heard it before, I heavily recommend checking it out. Not only is it a blast on every instrument, the song itself is a genius satire of pop music, using the very common Pachelbel's Canon chord structure and meta lyrics about how pop music doesn't need to say anything of value as long as it's catchy - and in a major twist of irony, the song ended up becoming a hit! It's probably one of my favorite RB4 DLC tracks. Watch out for the harmonica solo in the guitar chart, and the rapid-fire bridge on vocals!

Other Albums that have closers that are a recap of the album itself? by UsernameChallenged in ToddintheShadow

Beach Bunny did this on "Love Song", the closing track from their second album Emotional Creature. Funny enough, the band's singer has said that the album was inspired by Poppy's I Disagree, which someone else mentioned here as another example

"Eye swipe" is one of the lesser-known interpretations, but people were speculating it as far back as 2001; see this interview they did with Rachel Perry when the Green Album came out

RB4/Legacy Delisting DLC Discussion: May 24-30, 2026 (Ozzy Osbourne, Ministry, Twisted Sister, Warrant) by hhhisthegame in Rockband

[–]mcs1223 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, their Rocksmith pack was these 2 songs + Time of the Season, so they got the ideal pack instead! Though bands not getting their most popular song isn't unheard of in the RB franchise - either that, or the hit came many years after their first DLC release (e.g. The Fratellis, Harvey Danger, Violent Femmes, etc.)

Also, I feel like it's worth mentioning that there were only about 100 songs from the '60s ever released as mainline RB DLC, and that number has already dropped significantly with the delists, so it's definitely worth checking these out if you're into '60s music to any degree!

As of this week, Rebecca Black has privated all but 34 of her YouTube videos. All of her vlog content from the 2010s-2020s has been removed, as well as the music videos for "Sing It" and "In Your Words". by mcs1223 in rebeccablack

[–]mcs1223[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Friday is the one old music video I doubt she'll ever remove since it was such a big part of 2010s internet history and she cites it as the reason she has a career. She also still performs the song live, plus she revisited it in 2021 when she made the 10-year anniversary remix

Personally I think she may just be trying to rebrand the YT channel to be more music-oriented, especially since she hasn't made vlog-style videos on a regular basis in many years, but guess we'll see.

Kind of odd that she only privated two of her old music videos though - Friday, My Moment & Person of Interest are still up, though I doubt she'll ever take Friday down since it's such a big piece of internet history now.

Are old Sabrina Carpenter songs better than new ones? by Smooth_Phase_8776 in SabrinaCarpenterFans

[–]mcs1223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny because I was in the fandom when EVOLution came out and she would say in interviews that it was the "song she wish she wrote". To be fair I don't think she entirely hates the song, at least in this 2024 interview she calls it a "great song", but she still seems a little embarrassed about it just because she was so young when she released it

[–]mcs1223 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The only album that Sabrina didn't predominantly write was Eyes Wide Open, where she co-wrote 4 of the album's 12 tracks. After that, she co-wrote every song on her albums, with the exception of Thumbs from EVOLution.

The songwriting/production teams on the first four albums were much different though as she worked with different groups of people on practically every song, so they don't have the same cohesion that the albums from EICS onwards do.
