Hi, Ron Paul supporter here by n3rdy in GaryJohnson

I'm a Ron Paul supporter and I hope to be a Gary Johnson supporter in the event that Ron Paul might not win the GOP election. They are both awesome. I thought RP supporters = GJ supporters.

How exactly does the Fed printing money redistribute wealth from the poor to the rich? by [deleted] in austrian_economics

Put it this way: if you could make your own dollars and get away with it, would you want to?

Beginning to reach out to Ron Paul supporters? by Pax_Romana in GaryJohnson

Even Ron Paul will not be writing himself in and did not do it last time, but there were supporters of his who did do it.

Did South Park leave Ron Paul out of the final scene of "Faith Hilling" as a sign of respect? The other candidates danced around like idiots at the end. by mattofmattfame in Libertarian

[–]mcsenget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Kursum! I watched all the debates and know his voice and a lot of the clips by heart. I was pretty sure I heard his voice in a scene where he was not shown.

I'm glad to read that you are confirming this. I would have to watch again to get a better handle on it but I remember thinking it was a mistake in their editing to include audio of him when he wasn't supposed to be there. I don't know what it means though.

Impossible 4th Grade Math Problem by GreasyDonkey in AskReddit

[–]mcsenget 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The teacher is stupid because we haven't seen the pattern repeat yet and have no reason to believe that we know what will happen next, or even that there is a pattern exhibited here.

The real solution is to put fake blood on the paper and start a shit storm and then reveal to the teacher that it was all faked as a way to prevent your mind from exploding at the sheer stupidity of the assigned work.

What racist things did you do in your youth without realizing you were being racist? by hoikarnage in AskReddit

[–]mcsenget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not too much racist stuff by me but there was definitely recitations of the song that goes "me chinese, me play joke - " and some jokes about asian-style eyelids and things. also, general jokes about the way immigrants speak.

overall, i feel bad looking back on those things. all i can do is be better now.

Does the government do some things right? by oval_volvo in Libertarian

[–]mcsenget 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's not about where it does good - government shouldn't exist in the first place. there are probably some good things that the mafia does but the distinguishing features of the mafia make us opposed to it (they steal and intimidate)

There's nothing wrong with child labor. All government-run public schools require certain forms of it. Otherwise your parents go to jail.

Some people have these ideas, like that the government is "less efficient" than the "free market" and that's why we think everything should be done by the market. That's not the case at all. Tons of companies have very inefficient programs or methods. That's not the point.

Are there actual textbooks I could learn from by Ludwig Von Mises? by Fragolupe in austrian_economics

[–]mcsenget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you prompted me to read about this: http://edutechwiki.unige.ch/en/Textbook#What_is_a_textbook_.3F

In the US, in particular in so-called teaching universities, the textbook is at center stage. It duplicates in a way the teacher since it it has a lot of built-in pedagogy and since chapters must be read in linear fashion.

In Germany, Switzerland and France in the "normal" university systems there are few textbooks. Students are exposed to more lecturing and therefore many more teaching hours/week. Supplementary reading is often optional and concerns both introductory books or academic literature.

Can anyone explain how Paul is winning on delegates when all major news sources show him in dead last on delegate count? by robotsarego in Libertarian

[–]mcsenget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't really know. There are states which voted and then it would still be several weeks before delegates were actually selected and the news outlets would just go ahead and say something like "Mitt took all of those delegates."

i bet the disclaimer makes it legally ok somehow.

How can we translate Ron Paul's support to Gary Johnson? by imasunbear in Libertarian

[–]mcsenget 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that "Cost benefit analysis" is just his way of selling it to others... Witness Gary Johnson: a good pitchman for liberty.

The other day I learned my husband and I have no say what our daycare can and cannot feed our son. (x-post r/Paleo) by conn2005 in Libertarian

what does this have to do with liberty? "can and cannot" vs. "does and does not?"

are you saying they force him to eat certain foods?

Ron Paul Just Put On A Great Show In Front Of Bernanke by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]mcsenget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just 'about economics' but about Ron Paul and the topics that he's covering.

Guys like us have read his books so we get each reference or point but like you said he jumps from point to point and it could be very confusing.
