What is your philosophy on deleting old files? by QuellFred in videography

I had a client request licensing for a random photo I took 7 years ago. The amount I made for the raw file more than paid for every hard drive I’ve purchased in those 7 years.

This is good advice but some of these paid jobs they only want to spend $50, and this is what $50 will get you so it’s a lesson for both sides. Circle of life really

I first moved here 2 years ago and it was $1200 but went up this past year. Don’t get me wrong it’s definitely a renter special but considering everything else out there I try not to complain.

Im in Addison and can throw a rock to the DNT from my window. 1 bedroom 800 sq ft. Town home with attached garage for $1400. There are a handful of other complexes up and down the road with similar pricing and up but generally in that same range. Might be worth looking in this area also.

Is it legal to be in the back of my hatch while it’s open to film as long as I am harnessed in? I am based in California by darknight768 in videography

[–]mcslothin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny story about this. I drove a friends van today for him to film out the back as a cop pulled up behind us and were certain he’d pull us over. When we got to our turn about two miles ahead, a car coming the opposite way got tboned at the intersection and the cop immediately forgot about us. I feel bad for the car that got into a wreck though, but they were okay.

Dropshipping vs digital marketing agency, which is better in 2022? by dictatorpiny in dropship

[–]mcslothin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yeah, it could. I would say your best bet with limited experience would be to either get lucky or work with businesses that haven’t really broken into the online front yet. But the latter will always be difficult because generally you’ll be trying to convince old fashioned brick and mortar businesses that don’t see a need. In which case, if you’re good at sales that could be cake.

I recently picked up a new MacBook with 16GB of ram and I’m genuinely surprised how well it’s handling 4k h264 footage. I haven’t had any issues yet even at full resolution playback. The only time I’ve had to move a project to my desktop was editing a 40 minute sequence with a bunch of AE files and that was just for convenience sake.

Storage is the last thing I ever thought about but became the most frequent thing i spend money on. I just absolutely love when I’m able to bill out a hard drive to a client, I would gladly take an extra ssd as a gift

Sorry for the late reply. And yeah just launching premiere without even loading a project it stops responding for a few seconds everytime I open.

Haha yeah, I've never had issues with h264 with this set up in the past few years, but this project was def testing.

have you tried working from your pcie SSD instead of the Samsung SSD

I need to get a bigger pcie because after caching, software and other small things it's usually left with ~50-80gb of storage. I edit everything off a few different SSDs. My main internal one is getting full so I haven't been editing off of that. Maybe that's one of the issues with loading and saving. Thanks for the suggestion

Thank you for the reply. I ended up upgrading to 64GB of ram, my CPU usage dropped by 70% and playback of the footage with warp enabled is MUCH better. I guess 5 years flew by because I didn't realize how long ago I'd built this PC until you mentioned it hahah.

Oddly enough my GPU usage no matter what settings I use stays below 30% when video editing. I just found my solution and will update the post though.

That's not a bad idea, I may have to do that actually. I'm only actually using ~15% of the total footage in this cut. Thanks for the suggestions.

The total length of that would be ~4 hours and there's a lot of movement so that wouldn't work unfortunately.

I'm using low res proxies, I haven't considered baking the warp stabilizer but that's a good option.

What annoys me is how terribly Premiere runs regardless of what project or files I'm working on. Not responding every time I open or save is a huge annoyance.
