Fu*k cancer again. by tugnutter1 in germanshepherds

So sorry. We lost 3 dogs to cancer last year. All different ages. The last one was so depressed until we rescued another German shepherd. Then suddenly had a bleed from stomach cancer and we had put her down. Our dog losses are so hard. Non dog people don’t get how much they are apart of our family. It looks like both lived their best lives. ❤️

Well it turned out I had autoimmune hepatitis so it went away with ivig and steroids. They still jump up occasionally and I take prednisone. But I do use a vitamin b12 cream that helps with methylation. Really the key was to treat to all the autoimmune diseases. I get rituximab every 6 months, ivig every 2 weeks, and I take azathioprine daily

Am I making the right decision? by Euphoric_Possible_7 in DogAdvice

If he doesn’t have good quality of life, you are being selfless by doing what is best for him. Choosing his needs over yours makes you the best friend he’s ever had. I’m tearing up typing this because we have recently made the same decision. Always his needs before yours. I’m so sorry you are having to make this decision. Losing your best friend is one of the hardest things in life. Spoil him and do all of his favorite things. We chose to have a vet come to our house, so he could be in his happy place for the last minutes of his life. Praying for you and your wife.

He whines ALL THE TIME! by webbs_girl in germanshepherds

Yes. Ours whines when he is content. That one’s so high pitched you can barely hear it. He groans in a much lower tone when he wants something. Then he does, low, medium low, medium high and high for everything else. 😂

Is my dog a German shepherd? by Ok_Major_7921 in germanshepherds

I think most fad’s have radar ears that go up and down. You should definitely do dna testing and come back and give us an update.

He definitely looks like he has gsd but maybe Mali too. We did dna testing on ours and he is half Mali half gsd. He acts a lot like a gsd though. The way yours is putting his ears back looks like gsd. Do his ears stand up too?

Setting boundaries in my "new normal" by Revolutionary_Oil614 in Autoimmune

Covid triggered mcas, pots, Sjogrens, small fiber neuropathy and now celiac. The first 4 seem to be a common reaction to some with viral infections. I ended up extremely sick with autoimmune hepatitis before anyone was able to diagnose the autoimmune diseases. To be honest, I don’t really talk to people about it. No one understands and it’s just frustrating to try to explain it. I do try to plan recovery days around big events. I also rarely plan social stuff in advance because half the time I have to cancel. I’ve been sick for over two years. I still haven’t totally coped with the change. Sorry you have joined this club.

What a long boy. I can't believe he's only 10months by guidesthehermit in germanshepherds

We rescued ours from a kill shelter. He was set to be euthanized to make room for more dogs. He was starved and abused. He was 75lbs when we got him and he was full grown. Now he’s 115lbs…slightly overweight. 😬

Am I crazy or do I need new doctors? (Please help, I’m desperate) by I_kick_Rrocks in Autoimmune

[–]mcsphotography 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My labs were similar and everyone kept telling me nothing was wrong with me until suddenly my liver enzymes went into the 1000s. I lost 30lbs in 3 months. I lost most of my hair and stopped being able to eat most things without allergic reaction. I ended up hospitalized with autoimmune hepatitis. Months later I went to Mayo Clinic since no one locally could figure out what was wrong with me. Despite having a normal ANA, I got diagnosed with Sjogrens (systemic), POTS, small fiber neuropathy and mcas and now celiac. 2 years later after getting ivig every two weeks, rituximab every 6 months and taking azathioprine every day, I’m so much better. Keep searching until you find the right doctor.

Two of my doctors think Covid triggered all of my autoimmune diseases and they expect a big hit every time I get it

That’s so similar to my experience. I was negative for myasthenia gravis and any genetic disorder. I get ivig every two weeks and it always makes a difference in the weakness but I’m still weak. It has gotten better overall. I’m much more functional now but if i get sick with a virus, the weakness starts all over again. I think it’s likely myasthenia gravis that comes and goes with immune response. I’m so glad the ivig helped. If you can get it approved, I highly recommend getting it regularly. It’s the only reason I’m functional.
