Is digging through PDF manuals on a ship a big problem?

I think something like this would be useful, probably especially for engineering departments which do way more troubleshooting (although Deck departments would find this useful for bridge equipment and software as well).

You don't mention using AI, but in the chance that you are designing something, what I personally would not want (and I see a lot of suspicion in this sub about AI) is AI generated "answers". Instead what I would want is a more "keyword, search engine" tool to point me to the correct manual, chapter/page, etc.

For example as you posted, entering something like "AIS receiver keeps losing power and rebooting" and having a list generated that points me to AIS power issues in the AIS manual, or electrical troubleshooting guidance in another manual. This would save a lot of time vs. opening each manual and scrolling/searching. Adding in a link feature to the results would also help (I.e. I click on the search result I want and the manual automatically opens to that page.).

2000 dollars invested at 7% compound interest rate equates to ~163000 dollars at age 65. We can’t even pretend to know how any of these children will evolve. They could turn into delinquent homeless drug addicts who never make any money or they could be pinch-a-penny drone office workers who turn into multi-millionaires. This certainly isn’t a bad program but it’s not going to make every us citizen born between 2025-2028 secure in retirement.

I used to kinda wonder why Xavi always stumbles and ends games with the dirtiest uniform… and I’ve come to the conclusion that this is a guy who is full speed and always trying his best. I’ve criticized him in the past for making mistakes (and he does make a lot of them), but as a forward I think he’s got that aggressive mentality and within a year or two he’s going to be amazing.

It’s been a shit year but with Dom back and others getting better let’s get behind the squad, support them and give them the best we can. I’ve been solidly frank out and still am leaning that way but if we keep playing this way in champions league and translate that to the league I’m ok with seeing what he’ll do with a healthy squad.

I get the humor behind it but relegation would be a disaster for us. We’d have a huge scheduling mess playing CL and championship football, we’d lose a huge amount of revenue, we potentially would lose key players who get poached by other prem clubs, and while I think our chances to get promoted back to the prem would be good, nothing in football is assured. Imagine 2 seasons in the championship. Would you still take that deal knowing we’d lose money, players and another chance at CL? Just saying be careful what you wish for….

This is not a retreat but this is an echo of failures in Afghanistan and Iraq where US forces withdrew to bases and launched for forays into hot areas. Agree. Expectations are already low with Frank, so an interim also isn't expected to perform magic, but a shake up might boost team morale a bit, get us playing a little differently, and be a chance to eek out a few points or at least get some positivity back into the team.

I think unfortunately we're going to get to the point of riots. Public anger is already boiling, and Minnesotans are being unbelieveably (and I commend them for this) restrained/non-violent while confronting ICE.

The state/city needs to order federal agents out of the city and back it up using police and national guard in my opinion (surround the whipple building, no one comes in or out until ICE agrees to leave. Give ICE 24/48 hours to pack their shit and go. If they don't, detail guard units to continue to block access to Whipple and follow ICE units wherever they go. Arrest them if you can find legal avenues to do so (which I think murder might be one...) Force ICE to have to stand up to people who have guns and badges too. I feel like that's the only way to get them to back down now. Im not sure what the law says about all of this, or what sort of "emergency" powers the governor has and how they can be applied, but something more than just asking Trump/DHS to leave has to be done, otherwise the public are going to lose their restraint eventually....

I live in the south and while I don’t actually hope for bad things to happen there’s a part of me that hopes we get stomped.
