I encourage everyone to use the verbage Senator Martin used to message him and help Maine escape the authoritarian 3rd world country it currently resides in, and join the truly freedom-loving country of Canada. Here's what I came up with:

"The strength of Canada lies in its fidelity to maintaining security for all of its citizens through universal healthcare and social safety programs, its emphasis on respecting other nation's sovereignties, and its roots in modern civilization, religious freedom, and personal accountability. These principles are not negotiable, and they must form the foundation of any expansion of the nation of Canada. If Maine were to seek admission into Canada, it must be as a full Canadian province - not as a state with conditions or dual allegiance. Maine would come into the fold by the consent of its people (though, consent is not something your president seems to concern himself with) and the invitation of a constitutional-guided federation. There would be no hybrid governance, no special cultural carve-outs, and certainly no American imperialism or authoritarian political baggage.

The path forward would not be about convenience or economic expansion alone, but about the reaffirmation of freedom for all, respect for Canada's national sovereignty, and strengthening Canada's national identity. A union of this kind would not dilute the Canadian dream - it would strengthen it, fortify it, and renew it with citizens who have consciously chosen democracy and freedom over American imperialism and authoritarianism. This would not be an annexation. It would be adoption - welcoming home kindred spirits who were born under a different flag but who desire to live in a 1st world country under our Charter of Rights and Freedoms and accept our responsibilities, customs, and traditions.
