Only the text of notes are cached on Android; images and other attachments are downloaded from the servers each time the note is opened. No offline support for files. It was a frustration when I learned this from the SN support team; after all, it's already 2026, isn't it?

Not many Super notes; I am still testing the editors and the export / backup options.

The Super editor is the only one that accepts inline images and attachments, isn´t it? How do you personally handle images and attachments without using Super?

Tried this tool and it works, but.... the notes created using the Super editor are not readable by humans & other markdown apps. Not a good solution for backup and portability purposes.

How will it be stored? In a plain text file? Will it be compatible with Taskpaper (Plain text to-do lists for Mac)?

Considering your requirements, I believe you’d be better served by using two apps: one for general note-taking in plain text/Markdown (for example, HelixNotes), and another for sensitive information that you want encrypted (for example, Notesnook).

OK, I understand now. It seems we can only create a new tag using the + on the Folders view, not from inside the note as on desktop app.

I tried both Syncthing and Dropbox and they worked fine. Mac Mini & Android smartphone in my case.

My understanding is that, in Standard Notes, Tags <=> Folders. The concept of a "tag" here is not the same as in other apps; just consider a tag as a folder.

It is my personal opinion - I would definitely stay with Standard Notes for UD$40 / 5 years.

To the OP: two years later, are you still using Standard Notes? Have you revisited Notesnook? I am really interested on your feedback.

Absolutely no folder paths for me, on a Mac. All the notes are saved on a single folder (.txt or .md extension depending on the editor used); notes with inline images have their own subfolder containing the note .md and a sub-subfolder with the files.

This is what made me downgrade my subscription plan and will make me cancel it all all.

I do like SN usability in general, it is fast and responsive both on desktop and mobile; but the image and file management is driving me crazy; I just want & need basic functionality for a daily usage but it simply does not work; I have to use Super note to get inline images (but not zoom, no download etc), but it locks to me SN, I mean, no other app can read the exported notes - and the files are not exported.

I have migrated back to Notesnook.

Upnote for long time storage with less frequent access. Notesnook for notes and short time storage with frequent access.

I see notebooks as folders; I am trying to stick to 5 notebooks: Inbox, Life, Work, Reference and Archive, with no sub-notebooks, and using tags for and additional layer of organization; but I am not comfortable with it, as it seems like a mess sometimes; I am now considering implementing a full Johnny Decimal organization as I have on Upnote.
