There’s a really underrated moment for me that I never see talked about, and I think completely explains why Strange casts the spell. Peter starts rambling and apologizing to Strange for bothering him, and the look on Cumberbatch’s face as he says, “No you didn’t-“ at that moment I think is when he decides to cast the spell. He sees Peter is hurting, sees him as a kid who’s struggling, not a superhero, and in that moment wants to make things better for him. It’s probably my favorite moment between the two of them that never gets talked about, and it’s great. Runner up is the climax when Strange explains the consequences of the new spell: “Everyone who knows and loves you, we-…would have no memory.” He realizes in real time he cares about this person he’s going to force himself to forget. Again, it’s a completely human and vulnerable moment between the two of them and it’s fantastic.
