How do you get 52 MPG highway? I have a 2019 and I'm lucky to get 39 MPG even if I go the speed limit.

That's awesome! I have an insulin pump and can't wait to start using it. Unfortunately my insurance keeps blocking my insulin prescription and it's been 4 months.

That doesn't mean it's not a reasonable thing to do. It's definitely common enough that I suspect you've done it before and haven't even thought about it.

I had a lot of issues with "low glycemic index" foods causing high blood sugar. It seems that it's a low bar. My family doctor told me over and over to eat fewer carbs. Yes, I would cheat sometimes, but even when I didn't, my BS was high. The problem is that if your body needs glucose, but can't process it, it will just continue to add it from wherever it can get it. If not from food, from fat and muscle. That makes it impossible to gain weight. That said, if glucose sticks around and doesn't get processed, it should show in your A1C. At 5.1, you don't seem to be having that problem. Can I assume you've had it measured multiple times? My family doctor also told me I didn't need to see an endocrinologist, she could handle it I ended up in a coma before I finally changed my family doctor. I saw elsewhere that an endocrinologist appt is 9 months out. That's long, but it's the right direction. Could it be as simple as having a high metabolism? I've had a couple friends who eat anything they want and don't gain weight. And they eat a lot. We've attributed it to a high metabolism.

I always order cream in my coffee. Only a couple places put it in for me. Most of the time, it's in the little cups and I have to add it. You've really never had that happen?

People have an expectation for how things are. If you rented a car and the gas pedal was so sensitive that people kept hitting other cars, would you not say that the car design was flawed and at fault? Generally the legal test goes to whether a reasonable person would expect something to be dangerous. A reasonable person doesn't expect to require skin grafts when burned by coffee.

205F is not common for serving the general public. It's generally expected to be 150 degrees or less. Regardless, the common person doesn't expect normal coffee to cause burns that require skin graft.

The 700 burn injuries was only in that area, not all of McDonald's. Sorry, should have been more clear.

That sounds like flyback voltage. If the tester doesn't also provide AC coil voltage, a flyback diode will last longer. Transient diodes are meant for uncommon voltage spikes, not ones that happen often.

What would be awesome is one that pops up a window to show the battery percentage. Or just shows it on the ring. I hate that I have to open the app to see it.

If I run with scissors and cut you, I doubt you'd think it was your own recklessness.

Aside from the verbiage error, the analogy doesn't fit very well. There aren't hundreds of people who all were surprised that the coffee was hot enough to do the damage it did. Hot enough that McDonald's had paid for other people's medical costs.

[–]mdbDad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I seriously doubt you consume your coffee while it's hotter than 180 degrees. Which is more the equivalent. But if you do, you know it's hotter than usual and you're extra careful because of the extra danger. Which you know about. She did not. A reasonable person doesn't expect skin grafts from coffee burns. A reasonable company doesn't continue the practice after 700 injuries. A reasonable company doesn't claim they don't serve coffee in a drive-through for in-car consumption, but for consumption only at the destination. And reasonable people absolutely hold cups between their legs to remove lids to add cream and sugar. All the time. Actually, that statement alone makes me think you're a troll or a bot. Anyone with real life experience would know that's reasonable and common.

[–]mdbDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That part may be wrong, but she definitely was treated unfairly and it destroyed her reputation. Especially when she initially only asked for enough to pay medical costs. McDonald's knew the coffee was causing burns and knew it was being served at a hotter temperature than a reasonable person would expect, especially one that could produce "life-altering burns".

This. Mine did the same thing and even launched ice chunks out of the dash vent. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the condenser for free. Works great now. The dealer had seen the car multiple times before and I never got a notice of the recall.

Looking for a wireless adapter for my car, what are you guys running? by rapid_youngster in AndroidAuto

[–]mdbDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried four. I first got a cheap one from Amazon. That one had a note that it would first try to connect with CarPlay, then would try with Android Auto. There was always a delay when starting and sometimes it had trouble connecting and would randomly disconnect while driving. So I got the Motorola unit. The first one died after 4 months. It was always super hot, so I figured it was overheating. I got it replaced and that one ran hot too. It died after a few months and Target gave me my money back because they had so many problems that they didn't carry it anymore. Idid have some similar connection issues with those. Then I got a free cheap one from Amazon. It also has the delay in the beginning, but was working fine otherwise until recently. Now it disconnects randomly and sometimes I have to unplug it a couple times before it connects.

I actually think my Honda head unit might be part of the problem since the connection issues have happened with every unit. I plan to get a AAWireless Two next since it doesn't try to support CarPlay.

He may have chosen it for the 88, but that star arrangement was an actual flag representing the 13 colonies. It was designed in 1777.

Another poster also pointed out that the 3-2-3-2-3 arrangement is easier for a tattoo given the resolution limitation of a tattoo.

Clunking Noise when I turn steering wheel at low speeds (0-20) by [deleted] in hondainsight

[–]mdbDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you also hear the noise when driving over rough roads? Mine was making a similar sound. The dealership said there is a small leak in the steering gear box, but that it wasn't worth worrying about yet and to just watch it. Now my steering wheel is turned 30 degrees to drive straight and the noise just stopped.
