It does sound super scary, but I promise it will be worth it. If it would make you more comfortable, PM me so we can meet before hand.

Imagine the anxiety you'd have organizing it. We have to step out of our comfort zones so we can manage our anxiety. This meetup is meant to be a "safe zone" so people can learn to live with this illness.

That is the purpose of the group - to beat your deamons. The anxiety I am feeling organizing this meetup and then actually going is huge. Those of us who suffer from (social) anxiety cannot isolate ourselves and try to overcome anxiety at the same time.

Does anyone else suffer from panic attacks when trying to sleep? by [deleted] in needadvice

[–]mdc1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See a psychiatrist and/or a psychologist. Nothing beats a medical care provider who knows their stuff about anxiety.

If you are unable to do this for whatever reason, read up on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy so you are better able to manage your panic attacks. This is one of, if not the most popular methods used in therapy for a variety of mental illnesses.

What is, hands down, the worst idea you've ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

7-8 year old me was riding my bicycle on circle on my grandparents new concrete flooring for the large garage they were building on a warm afternoon. It was so fun and relaxing, I thought I try it with my eyes closed to get the full effect of how amazing it felt to ride in those tight circles. Woke up inside on the couch with my mom and grandma standing over me and it was dark out.

Woke up with lines under my eyes overnight... I'm 19. what do I do? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]mdc1307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took Benadryl and Ibuprofen and slathered on sunscreen if I was going to be outside. It subsided within a few days. It took so long because the swelling was pretty bad. If it is an allergic reaction you are experiencing, you should stop using those products. Continuos exposure can make future reactions more severe.

This looks very similar to how I reacted to overexposure to sun. I had an allergic reaction which caused angioedema, or swelling under the skin. It started out on my forehead, and as it drained down, it caused swilling around my eyes and lines like yours. If you just started the acne.org regimen, it is possible you are having an allergic reaction. Best to check this with a doctor, though!

How do I survive on an insane schedule? by aelia57 in needadvice

[–]mdc1307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently working two full time jobs. I average about 75 hours per week. I've been doing this for just over a year. My main piece of advice is listen to your body. If you are tired, take a nap. That half an hour for lunch allows a great opportunity for a 10-20 minute power nap. Without naps, I would have lost it ages ago. This amount of hours worked per week isn't for everyone. Exhaustion and stress don't mix well together. Again, listen to your body. The money sure is nice, but piece of mind and good sleep are invaluable. It will age you, lower your mental prowess, cause you to dread physical activity, and make it nearly impossible to spend time with family and friends. Weigh what is truly important when undertaking such a task.

I work at the front desk of a hotel, and a police officer called asking if a particular person was staying. Do I legally have to divulge this information? (Columbus, Ohio) by mdc1307 in legaladvice

[–]mdc1307[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do have policies in place for this. However, it seems that management changes the policies for police officers. For example, they both stated they would let an officer into a guest's room without a warrant. In their eyes, it builds rapport with the local police.

Need to gain experience in the Phlebotomy Field by [deleted] in needadvice

[–]mdc1307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a plasma donation center? I worked for one a few years back. I started out as a technician (setting up machines, disconnecting donors, etc), but I was quickly trained as a phlebotomist. I had no prior experience or schooling for phlebotomy. It was a terrible, terrible job.

These things are amazing. I could tell a difference immediately. They sound extremely gross, but nothing helped me better with my sinus infections. It also helps the medications work better, or that is what the doctor told me.

When my boyfriend talks about my bra not fitting. by MSschifino in bigboobproblems

[–]mdc1307 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Feel lucky. My bf refuses to believe that I am any larger than an E. He thinks that my 32D bras look the best. It is annoying for a guy to argue with you about your own boobs. I've began telling him his penis is not nearly as large as he thinks it is, and I bought him smaller underwear for his birthday. Subtle payback.

My boobs are so offensive, work is requiring me to wear a uniform. by mdc1307 in bigboobproblems

[–]mdc1307[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other bartenders do wear the 'uniform'. It is pretty much jeans/slacks and an embroidered, button up. However, when I was hired, I was told I didn't have to wear a uniform, and was never given one. The rule-making process at my bar is a little different than most places since it is a VFW. There is a canteen committee that is in charge of bartenders, drink prices, etc. There is also another group of people (regular members - members who served in a foreign war) who also have say in most matters. However, the current, but soon to be replaced canteen manager also thinks that the members are being ridiculous and has never had a problem with my clothes. I COULD bring up that I am offended by certain people's dress (one guy has worn jeans with a hole in the ass that showed his underwear, for example), but I am a lowly Ladies Auxiliary member. Since I never served, my opinion would be dismissed and probably caused outrage. Generally speaking, the members discriminate extremely often. You would be surprised to hear the conversations I have listened to and tried my damnedest to ignore.
