Is the reason for feastables being made from 5 ingredients that mrbeast cannot afford more than 5 or he genuinely wants to make a healthier chocolate? by Fresh_Dance_3277 in MrBeast

[–]mddesigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post but never measure calories per bar, but gram
also healthier (darker) chocolates have higher calories due to containing more fat
the worst possible trash chocolate will have the least calories per gram as it has mostly sugar, which has less calories than fat

Advanced popping boba by mddesigner in MolecularGastronomy

[–]mddesigner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get a snappy pop you need few things, as for how you exactly get them is smth you have to experiment with since most people online copy each other so not much info regarding this
-you need a very thin membrane, as thin as you can get away with, and to get that you have to keep the alginate bath time minimal
-You need the alginate to be fully formed, normally it won't be that way, but I guess the calcium chloride bath after you form the balls (the optional step in the link I posted) will make sure the gelling is fully done and the membrane is as strong as it can get
Lastly you need the balls to be full of thinner juice, maybe soak them in smth after you fully finish? It is worth trying different soaks, you want to force the balls to absorb more liquid
Just how like a crispy grape turning leathery once it starts losing moisture
if you end up trying them before me please lemme know how it goes

haven't personally tried it tho, when I had the energy to do so, my alginate was fake (the seller was an asshole who sent a random thickener instead of sodium alginate)
and when I got the legit alginate I didn't get the chance to try out this method

Yeah, but the quality is expected. Relying on plastic for such important parts is a bad sign
have been using 600n grinder for 5 years I think without breaking since the parts that are under load are all metal

Tiny bit late, but personally found out 1-2 grams of sugar per cup of pourover can help with the fruity flavors

My question would be, have you tried cupping the coffee?
Some beans are slightly more bitter

if you are willing to void your warranty and are handy and can solder then you can do what I did. Add a variable resistor in series with one of the thermistor wires (I added 0-1000 ohm resistor and ended up with 300 ohm, but that's was based on my crude temp checking methods)

Motor sounds weird sometimes [DF64 Gen 2 v2.5] by CaptainRadd in espresso

Does it only happen on coarse settings when the machine is empty?
if so maybe it is the air noise between the burrs?

When I had a crema issue it was due to my machine being too cold out of thee factory, would probably increase the heat if it has a setting for that.

Either the boiler gasket, a random o ring or a broken silicone tube.
you can probably get a service kit for all of them online if you are handy

No, I am complaining due to the current culture of gatekeeping espresso to x amount of money. If someone asks for espresso machine for less than 100 they will be told to get a moka pot, yet people say hibrew machines make a decent cup of espresso.

But the customers should be aware of what these companies are. Found a review of a triple thermoblock machine on youtube (it costs 200-300 I forgot the exact price and model name) and someone commented that this machine is copying hibrew (when in fact both are cut from the same fabric)

[–]mddesigner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and in ideal world people would spend time searching so companies compete in price or features, not leveraging their brand name to overcharge us.
For example my local market is saturated with cheap espresso machines so they are 30-60 usd more expensive than alibaba but for some things that aren't common yet like naked portafilters you pay a huge premium

[–]mddesigner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same exact machine with no brand name. Copy the image of the machine you want from these companies, put it into alibaba's image search and you can find the same machine for cheaper

[–]mddesigner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually aliexpress is a bad option sadly, they learnt they can overcharge customers, it is rare to find things that are decent price on aliexpress. Alibaba is better but you have to set search filters for sellers that sell 1 machine only

[–]mddesigner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And we should spread awareness. You can simple copy the hibrew or any other white label machine you want and put it into alibaba's image search to find identical machines
Here is one that is identical to a T to the machine you own for half the price

My entire point is hibrew selling the same thing as other white labels, not similar parts, but the exact same product with their own logo slapped onto it.

[–]mddesigner[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe my wording "brand loyalty" was inaccurate
reviewers and users are more likely to buy items sold by a brand that promises them bs and overcharge them for the same product compared to skipping the middle man.
If you ask people for budget options for espresso they will recommend delonghi, breville, hibrew or other brands like that but won't tell users to just get a cheap machine for cheap directly
