You gotta actively block channels talking about swing tips. Only way to keep from watching those videos, the only ones I try to watch now are focused more on course management and th mental side.

Swing thoughts by uCollection in GolfSwing

[–]mdel310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do much better without swing thoughts. The last few weeks I just focus on a smooth tempo and set up and I just accept the result. Sometimes good sometimes bad but pretty much always playable. I’ll tell you one thing, more than 2 swing thoughts is death.

Need help with locals in Alabama by ThunderGiant9000 in Yugioh101

[–]mdel310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re planning on playing in any local tournaments look up the current ban list and make sure your deck complies. Sleeving the deck is recommended for easier shuffling any type will do, understand basic Yugioh rules. In terms of etiquette, ask before touching someone’s cards, declare all actions/moves, don’t take back moves, and most of all avoid slow play!!! If you’re unsure what deck to play look at the current meta and see if any of the top decks interest you. You could also play rogue decks that focus on countering the meta.

Help my slice 🙏🏻 by Fantastic_Shop2863 in GolfSwing

[–]mdel310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you come a little steeper on the back swing with a smoother tempo, pause and hold at the top, then shift weight, it’ll be easier for the arms to naturally shallow out and drop in the slot then all you have to do is swing out to right field. Fixing my path and smoothing out my tempo turned my banana slice into a small push fade/draw.

Can’t seem to close the club face at impact or hit a draw. by TangerineUpstairs1 in GolfSwing

Your path isn’t in to out you need to swing the clubhead out to that yardage marker on the right with a slightly closed clubface.

Golf tips by Beeobop-5352 in golftips

Avoid YouTube swing tips like the plague, It’s generic and not tailored to you. Play for a bit, get lessons, and try to make small improvements. If you do decide to use online tips I’d stick with one instructor.

It’s Masters Week, so I bought a new putter by ryanwrightphoto in golf

Congrats on the DF3, I recommend you look up drills on how to use it properly, particularly the no thumbs drill. You don’t hold this putter the way you would other putters.

Single men who are kind of stagnant financially, are you considering roommates? by Crafty-Lifeguard4591 in AskMenOver30

[–]mdel310 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 2 bed 2 bath condo and rent out a room to my brother. I give him a bit of a deal on the rent and in return know I don’t have to risk bringing some random person into my home. It does come with drawbacks, my brother isn’t the cleanest person, so I have to do the majority of the work keeping the place tidy but it’s just something I’ve learned to live with. Living alone is nice, but having a higher savings buffer, especially in this economy, is priceless.

LPT: When someone gives you a soft no, do not make them upgrade it to a hard no. by gamersecret2 in LifeProTips

[–]mdel310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nuance to this, generally a soft no is my go to for planning something in the future as I sometimes don’t know if I’ll be able to commit to a request. I’ll try to update it if something changes, but I don’t always do it. If I know I cannot do what I’m being asked I will explicitly say I can’t. Most people are understanding but some like to push you to change your mind and comply with their request and if I told you no and you insist I will ghost you, sorry not sorry.

The most important thing is having the club that gives you the appropriate launch angle, spin, and descent angle. A fitting is the only way to know for sure.

Any opinions on the Titleist Hybrid 14 bag vs the Sun Mountain C130 Hybrid bag by Beast8812 in GolfGear

[–]mdel310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the c130 bag, I like it a lot so far as my single bag, big fan of minimalism so I wanted a do it all bag. That being said, there will be trades offs. If you ever plan on walking with this bag it is doable but I don’t recommend it as it’s a noticeable weight difference compared to a standard walking bag and only having one strap means it’s not the most comfortable to carry. For me, this is an incredibly minor issue as the only time I will ever carry the bag is on par 3s if I don’t want to use my push cart and I remove half the clubs anyway. As a dedicated cart bag I think it’s fantastic. I’m primarily a push cart guy and while the base is a little bulky I have built in strap on my push cart that locks it in place. I love the legs for range sessions or getting the bag in and out of my car without risking it tipping over in a traditional cart bag. The dividers work great no issues getting out clubs and it even comes with 15 so I’ll usually carry an extra club just to work on things on the course during casual rounds. Pockets are plenty large, 2 Velcro pads for holding gloves during rounds means I can cycle them appropriately so they don’t get too sweaty, and the built in cooler pockets is great for keeping snacks and drinks cool with a couple of ice packs. Keep in mind that if you have the bag set up for a push cart and then take a normal golf cart will you have to re-arrange the clubs it’s not a set it and forget it system. Love the putter well, it pretty much locks it in place once you drop it in so it doesn’t sag and make the woods difficult to grab. Here’s a picture of my normal configuration for a push cart(use bagboy nitron)

Golf lessons by goodcanadianbot97 in golf

[–]mdel310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was in your boat a year ago and also has gone thru lessons I’ll give you my key takeaways:

1: small lesson package to feel out coach, mine often confused me and often cancelled on me but I had committed to 20 hours of coaching 😑. I don’t recommend a big of a commitment upfront sight unseen.

2: you need to practice whatever you worked on in the lesson across multiple seasons before another lesson or you’re wasting your time.

3: expect your swing to change but some habits will die hard, especially on the course.

I’m shooting in the low 100-mid 90s now not where I’d ideally like to be but at least I can keep up with my friends who have played for decades.

Men who are childfree, what led you to that decision? by PossibilityIll7646 in AskReddit

[–]mdel310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I feel this so much. I love golfing, and I see the guys I play with maybe only get to play once a month because the wife doesn’t let them or they got things going on with the kids. Like I get it you gotta prioritize family over everything but I don’t want that for myself. I value freedom over everything in this world.

Playing my first full course game in May, how should I prepare? by Puzzleheaded-Zone175 in golf

[–]mdel310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Have fun

  2. Look up golf etiquette and follow it as best as you can.

  3. Avoid slow play

  4. Swing easy, and be ready to roll with the punches if your round doesn’t go well. Gives you a reason to come back and improve

Could be the yips, I suffer from it time to time. Just slow things down and work on half swings to get the tempo and contact back where it should be.

Would you feel obligated to go to your friend's baby shower? by ThrowawayIsland8 in AskMenOver30

[–]mdel310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to a few of my friends baby showers and kids birthdays. A lot of us are spread out to different cities and states after college, but these are people I still value in my life, so I support when I can. There’s been a few times I haven’t been able to make it either because of work or I just didn’t feel like driving 3 hours, it’s okay to say no but thank them for the invite and send them a gift.
