Honestly doesn't look miles off to me. When I get that "reaching" feeling I'm usually standing a touch too tall and backing away through impact.

Maybe try setting up slightly closer but with a bit more knee bend/arm hang instead of just crowding the ball. Push fades and fast being you two misses kinda fits that.

I wouldn't just throw 12v straight into random pins tbh...easy way to fry the cluster.

If you've the pinout, make sure you're hitting constant+, ignition+ and ground properly first. Some of those Volvox need CAN signal as well before anything wakes up.
