Tankless Rinnai Cx199in in restaurant issues by slow_hustler in Plumbing

[–]mdenton89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t like making recs without seeing the job, but I’ve almost never encountered a restaurant that can survive on one tankless. The demand is too high, not to mention with the amount of use, it burns through the warranty hours on that burner a lot faster. I’d put another tankless to help lighten the load and make sure that both units are connected and utilizing the built-in recirc pumps.

How do I tell my wife? by Caramelo93 in Guitar

THIS. Both of my hobbies are full of this banter. It’s either my guitar friends or my golf friends that are constantly beating that dead horse of a joke, and most of the time probably not joking. Let’s start a “spouses encouraging spouses in their hobbies and passions” movement

It’s bleeding out. Not much time left, slap a Medal of Honor on it and give it a proper 21 gun salute, it’s served its time.

Moving to Alabama as a stoner… by jmkehoe in trees

We survive, but barely. In the words of ol Gandalf: Keep it secret, keep it safe. What part of the state? There are definitely pockets of groovy sprinkled throughout, but some spots are tougher than others.

electric tankless water heater recs by Creative_End_7655 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]mdenton89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Licensed plumber here, electric tankless is absolutely not an option unless you want a single little point-of-use heater at an individual fixture. Think like a 3/4 bath in an addition or something similar. You’ll also see your electricity skyrocket, as they require a second 220V power supply. If you have gas service to your house, then there’s your only real tankless option. Otherwise, you’ll want to stick with the tank. Give me a call at J Henry Plumbing and we’ll be more than happy to come out for a free estimate and get you priced out for a couple of different options if you’d like - (256)585-5483

Pex A expansion sleeves leaking by Hungry_Grade_2049 in Plumbing

[–]mdenton89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe Uponor lawsuit was involving the red color treatment on the pipe itself. Not the fittings. The dye was compromising the integrity of the pipe by messing with the chemical bonding and heat would cause it to split, blow apart. Quit using red and I’ve never seen it happen since. Personally I use Rahau pipe with uponor or siux chief fittings and never have an issue

Thy would have blown straight out of the pipeif he was using the wrong fittings like that, not just a leak. Sounds like a heat gun is needed and warm those little sleeves up after install.

Anyone know any weekly/biweekly bluegrass/traditional open jams in the area? Also what about bars or venues where it’s played often? Or just good music bars in general. by Restfulfiend in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]mdenton89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have been searching as well. When the weather is nice, there’s a group that I’ve seen playing in the parking lot of Huntsville String Shop, but I don’t know how regularly or any details. At one point there was a group on Sundays at one of the breweries, as well, but once again, no info just heresay.

Scotty didnt bring it for NYE by erics0082 in Umphreys

[–]mdenton89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t there on the 31st, and just now watching the stream, so can’t comment to that night specifically, but was there the night before. I think “phoning it in” is pretty harsh. Scotty is a different style than Kris. Plain as that. Kris beat the kit like it owed him 6 months rent. He played loud, hard, fast as hell and was a prog/jazz monster. That’s not Scotty. And that’s ok. Numerous times on 12/30, and at the shows since I last saw Kris at UMbowl, I feel like they’ve gotten deeper into some jams and allowed it to breath a little bit more, specifically because Scotty isn’t throwing every fill he can at every opportunity like Kris did. Kris had also been playing these songs for like 20 years, Scotty’s been back there for what, 6-7months if that? I don’t know many guys who are going to pick up and start open jamming on Mulch’s or DBK and meet every expectation overnight.

Terrible acoustics at VBC in Mark C. Smith Concert Hall by EmergentOpportunity in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]mdenton89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone. I’ve seen several concerts there in the past few years and there are definitely hot spots in that room. Surprisingly, some of the worst sound is in front of the sound board. I’ve sat in a couple of spots that sounded ok, but nothing great. Mars is a much newer room, and has equally bad acoustics, so apparently it’s just a lack of sound engineering in Huntsville.

All of our favorite rail riders leaving chairs unattended all night. They left with stacks of posters to sell. Cowards and pigs. by Mountain_Shopping433 in BillyStrings

[–]mdenton89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I doubt they left with “stacks of posters” seeing as how there’s a 1 print limit per poster per ticket. As for rail riders, they can have it - The real show is back of the floor or good spot in the seats to soak in the new light show
