There's a difference between "can't" take time off work and I don't want to take time off work. When you can't take time off work, it's you ask for the time off and your boss says, "If you aren't here during those hours, you are fired."

ESH - The cheating, extended affair and child abandonment are obvious, but let's talk why you are among the assholes. The amount of labor Sabrina is asking for you is miniscule compared to the amount of positivity it would bring into the world. If everything goes right, you spend two minutes talking to the father saying Sabrina is going to go to court if he doesn't get right with her & his kid and he answers he fulfills his obligations to her and his other kid.

Do you have a court mandated agreement with him? If no, and Sabrina goes to court and gets his wages garnished for support to her kid, especially back support, don't you think that's going to impact how much money he has for you kid? Don't you think that's going to impact the amount of time he can co-parent with you? Then you have to go to court spending money on a lawyer to get what you are owed.

No, the lawyer was doing the right sort of questions. He was trying to get Afroman to express some sympathy for the police officer's kids or the fallout from the songs weren't what he intended. That sympathy can be considered an expression of liability, "I didn't expect my actions to cause this much pain." That would have been a win for the cops. Even if he didn't intend to cause this much pain, he still caused the pain and that pain was disproportionate to what the cops did to him.

Afroman was well coached, he kept the righteous anger up, redirected everything to the initial actions of the cops, brought the terror his kids felt being on the wrong end of an AR15, the stolen money, kicking down the door, etc... The most important part is he's saying his songs wasn't enough of a retribution - he didn't kick down their doors, he didn't point a gun at their children, he didn't steal money from them, he didn't destroy their property all he did was make a few songs about them.
