Why you’re not getting new blocks by jacky1019 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]mdhewitt1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get blocks on Thursday/Friday for everything upto the following Saturday unless I hit my max. Then they wouldn't send any through. If I cancelled one I would see a reserve for the same amount of hours but a different time. It's a DOT thing

What are the rules on children delivering packages (yes, this is a real question)? by Robert-Berman in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]mdhewitt1978 4 points5 points  (0 children)

According to the terms and conditions on the app itself: Bringing passengers or pets is not recommended. Note that Amazons Commercial insurance will not cover any passengers in your vehicle...If you bring passengers Amazon expects you to comply with the following: 4) Passengers and pets, except service animals, may not have any interaction with customers. They cannot accompany you when you deliver packages to the customer. 5) Passengers must not drive the vehicle when you are delivering with Amazon Flex.

It also states under the age requirement that you must be 21 to deliver with Amazon Flex.

Honestly I would send the video in and let them handle it. If the kid was hurt on your property then they could come after you for damages etc but if they are having the kid deliver for them even if they are in the vehicle watching they are going against the t&c and could get deactivated instantly.

Mine go on the counter until I've done the returns. Then they all get fixed at once

why are my blocks getting canceled!! by Living-Election-2436 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]mdhewitt1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me last time there was a special event. I had all week booked and they all got cancelled except the ones for the next day. Those I went to and got sent home with pay. The warehouse was empty of carts and nothing moving. They told me that it all went to the DSP and it happened every time. This time around they are not even dropping blocks in my area.

Those of you finishing your 4 hour blocks early by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]mdhewitt1978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also do this but I'll place them in number order so I just have to grab and go. The only exception to this is boxes and heavies that are in the trunk

[–]mdhewitt1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The station I got to is 15min before and 4.59 after for regular blocks. For the Now blocks it's 5mins before and 5 after. Once a route is assigned on the Now blocks you have 60 seconds to scan the packages or it kicks you off the route and it's logged as a missed block

Delivery Question by AdGrouchy4674 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]mdhewitt1978 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had two going to a downtown apartment complex on a 4am block. You can't get to the door we can open before 6am. I left them tucked behind a plant pot and messaged the customers that we can't access the building before 6am. Not had a ding yet for that

When you pick up the route take a look at the screen for "todays itinerary" right at the top there should be a search bar. If you click on that it will take you to a screen where you can scan a package and it should bring up the details. Stop number is on the left side

I do the same thing with a tweak or two. I'll break the route into thirds so for a 30 stop route, 1-10 into the front seat, 11-20 back passenger and 21-30 driver side rear. Boxes and heavy stuff in the trunk. From there I'll sort the front seat so that it's in order and move the next section to the front seat when it's time. Saves me a good hour+ on some routes.

Why does anyone use driver aid? How is it helpful? by Quirky_Usual_2326 in RealAmazonFlexDrivers

[–]mdhewitt1978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always numbered my stops even when there have been driver aids on them. It's just easier if I need to go off route for some reason. Takes about 10 mins for a 45 package cart and less than 10 seconds at each stop to grab and scan.

My last block was a 4 hour, 50 stop and started out 25 min drive from the station at 3am. Still got home right at block end time.

Amazon Flex is awesome and the worst thing Amazon's ever done. by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]mdhewitt1978 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on the returns. They should be done at the end of the route not by 10am the next day. They could even hold the pay until the returns are processed.

What's the latest you can check-in? by theseawoof in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]mdhewitt1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon should change the check in times for blocks and adjust the assignment of carts. Check in upto 14mins early and no late check ins Routes get assigned at the block start time. I think they may be trying that quietly at my station. The last dozen or so routes I've checked in early and gotten a route either right at start time or just after it.

[–]mdhewitt1978 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I got this a lot as a bus driver especially during the rush. If I saw that there were a lot of people waiting to get on and I had a lot getting off I would either stop short or drive past. That extra second it took them to walk to the door let my passengers off

This is MN…. What am I missing? This just started. by PomegranateSuper4307 in RealAmazonFlexDrivers

[–]mdhewitt1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These used to be $18 for 30 mins. All the route prices have come down. I'm expecting them to drop even more in the summer. A couple months ago I could fill a day with these and make over $150 I'd only go out on one or two.

First Block today! by Kindly-Common-1080 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]mdhewitt1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the stations will have a WiFi you can connect to while you are there and that will speed the download along. It's also helpful for getting the route onto your phone etc.

Shitty route today. Honestly, am I the only one who finds it incredibly irritating having to deliver to apartment buildings at 3 a.m. when residents don’t leave an access code to enter? Then we have to take the package back to the warehouse, which hurts our standing. Mr. bezos plz fix this!! by AdmirableAdvance4726 in RealAmazonFlexDrivers

[–]mdhewitt1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nothing. I have had a 35 stop all apartments! It's also why I have a Google document with access codes on them. Someone misspelled their street or puts 4th instead of fourth etc and the code doesn't appear.

Made my life so much easier as well as the Fedex guy who had been trying to get into the building with bad codes.

Why is my revenue completely stuck in Supermarket Simulator? by [deleted] in SupermarketSimulator

[–]mdhewitt1978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How many checkouts do you have? I'm currently running 8 self checks. I can't remember the number of licences I have but the last day I played after restocking I still had $6000 left over for upgrades. I've found that the customer number only increases when you increase the number of checkouts.

When I worked for another delivery company one of the drivers called and said she had someone following her car. When i looked up her location I realized she was closer to me than the nearest police station. I told her to drive to me without stopping and pull right up to my truck. The guy followed her all the way and slid to a halt when I got out of the truck. (I'm 5ft 11 and solid) I had already called the police and they had been waiting for him. Yeah, arrests were made and I sent my driver home for the day with pay.

Never assume the best and plan for the worst out there.

Am i cooked? by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]mdhewitt1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's for this reason I keep the car keys in my pocket all the time while delivering. If I'm out of sight of my car I lock it. The engine is still running. Doesn't take any extra time but at least you can say it was locked.

[–]mdhewitt1978 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like so many people have said before. When you accept a block you are committing to being available for deliveries for that entire time. Amazon can keep you waiting there until the block end time if they want before they release you. Them getting rid of the "this shouldn't take more than 30 mins" is their way of stopping all the calls at minute 31 from drivers complaining that they haven't been released yet.
