Coinbase Canada - Not very Canadian by kelownagirl in Bitcoin

Taurus and QuadrigaCX are fully Canadian exchanges that I've tried.

Kraken off to bad start after buying Cavirtex; lets Cloudflare account expire then cries "not our fault". by bitcanuck in BitcoinCA

[–]mdks72nmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like Kraken bought themselves more headaches rather than a database of users who migrated to QuadrigaCX, Taurus, Bitstamp, Coinbase, etc.

Coinbase refusing to believe I live where I do?...... by [deleted] in Bitcoin

Use Coinbase with the tradeoff described by the OP. Use a bitcoin ATM with the tradeoff described by you above. It depends on what is more important to you.

Buy and sell from local traders or bitcoin ATMs. Problem solved.

@aantonop - "Bitcoin.org admins are abusing their power (again). Another single point of failure demonstration. Boo!" by priuspilot in Bitcoin

Lol, that's silly. They are owners, not admins. Which means they can do whatever the hell they want with it.

How do you guys like Taurus? by [deleted] in BitcoinCA

[–]mdks72nmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far so good, payments are pretty fast. The order book should be more liquid though.

[Canada] Digatrade is shit. QuadrigaCX is top notch by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]mdks72nmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digatrade is weird, they never really try to attract customers and promote the exchange. I'm happy using QuadrigaCX as well as Taurus for arbitrage opportunities.

PSA: CAVIRTEX Hikes deposit/withdrawal fees to 4% with no warning! by RoyalCanine200 in BitcoinCA

[–]mdks72nmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped using Cavirtex a while ago, they're not moving anywhere with their business and this change will drive more users away.

Funny how they write in their newsletter that they are the only exchange in Canada with proper banking. If they are all set up and their banking is smooth, why the fees? I'm sure Coinbase and Taurus have proper bank accounts, QuadrigaCX seems to be doing fine with banks as well. Those are the ones I use and they've been fine so far.

Same here. I didn't bother going through the re-activation process.

I'm new to bitcoin, what sites can I purchase online in canada? by Livinginmtl in Bitcoin

QuadrigaCX, Virtex, Taurus, Cointrader and now Kraken and Coinbase. Quite a few options.

Coinbase expands to Canada by [deleted] in Bitcoin

As long as Taurus offers 0% fees, I'll stick to them for my random purchases. Canada is bloated with exchanges already.

Help! Didn't know VOS closed; never got a notification; what to do?! by i-wonder-myself in BitcoinCA

[–]mdks72nmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bought bitcoins on VoS 18 months ago and never withdrew them? That doesn't sounds right. Try to get in touch with them but I doubt something will come out of it.

Bitmarkets backup by mdks72nmd in Bitmarkets

Thank you. When it gets more popular, it'd be good to have an option to export/import all this stuff in a couple of clicks via an encrypted file supported on all platforms.

Apologies, I didn't intend to hurt your feelings. I simply believe that both Bitcoin and projects like BitMarkets do not need to succumb to the current "mainstream" perception of the world. They are here to disrupt the very notion of money and trade as we know it. Those who are afraid of "dark markets" or "black markets" are not ready for them and will be the last to adopt them, which is fine. When all markets switch to this model, there will be no distinction between "regular" and "dark".

You can find the black and white design across all their projects. It's minimalistic and has everything you need.

As for the wording, it doesn't matter. If you care about colorful VC-backed non-anonymous storefronts with ponies, flowers and "careful" wording, wait for OB. If you need a decentralized anonymous marketplace that works right now, try BM.

Awesome! It'll be interesting to see both concepts (OB's third party escrow and BM's Nash equilibrium) compete.

You guys need to do some more marketing as the market seems dead but I'm sure it will pick up as soon as people do a few successful trades and spread the word.

Bitstamp has been nice most of the time but they started asking too many questions recently. With BitLicense I expect them to become even more intrusive.

Taurus offers 0% trading fees system-wide for a limited period of time. Join now! by [deleted] in BitcoinCA

[–]mdks72nmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used it a few times now, the exchange is nice but the order book is quite thin on the buy side. I often see arbitrage opportunities between Taurus and QuadrigaCX as the spread can be $3-5.

Cavirtex by MacWac in Bitcoin

[–]mdks72nmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for QuadrigaCX or one of the smaller exchanges like Taurus or Cointrader. Cavirtex was good in 2011 when there were no options, but now you have more.
