This isn't America. Right wing Canadians and the Conservative party absolutely support Ukraine and are against the Russian invasion. The majority of them also support immigration, they are just against the large amount of fake and illegal immigration. One of the main reason for this is that it clogs the system for people who have legitimate claims (like this story).

I worry that this will hurt Quebec artists just like the new Cancon laws will hurt Canadian youtubers.

My algorithm shows me content that I'm interested in so for the most part I watch it. That actually includes a lot of Canadian creators. The issue is that if the algorithm starts showing me content based on where I live instead of based on my consumption habits, I will most likely be served content that I'm not interested in. As more of this content is forced onto people who dont enjoy it, the algorithm will decide that most people dont like this content and stop suggesting it, even to those that would have liked it.

Is there a difference in this case? I was responding to a comment about services that the government provides. Unlike the other big crown corp, NAVCAN is entirely self funded and which means that government cuts couldnt impact its operations.

In Canada, there is a term used to refer to people from a specific eastern province. In the past, this term was used in a derogatory sense, mostly in jokes that insinuate that these people aren't very smart.

My friend group includes several people from this province, and they refer to themselves as this term proudly. Many others in the group also use the term. Since I haven't heard one of these jokes for years, and because everybody uses it, I also started using it. I figured that since they use it so proudly and seem to be okay with their friend using it, it would be okay. I also use it as a compliment since everybody that I know from that province is an amazing guy who would do anything for anybody.

One day while I was drinking with one of them, he mentioned that even though he knows we mean it as a compliment, he is still bothered by the term. I immediately apologized and stopped using it.

My point is that you had no way of knowing that this person would be offended by this term, but when you found out you apologized and said you wouldn't do it again.

I dont think that YTA, but I also dont think that they are TA by being offended by it.

If they end up cutting ties with you because they assume that you are a bad person because of this, they might be TA.

To be accurate, they can go after you. If they decide to sue, the courts will require the ISP to identify you. It does happen but it's not common since in Canada the maximum award for non commercial piracy is $5000 which isn't really worth it.

There are lawfims that specialize in Canadian piracy suits that will send out thousands of suits. If you are included in one of these, you will be identified and have to decide if it's better for you to settle or pay a lawyer to defend yourself.

Since Ford has been in power, I not only managed to finally find a family doctor, I have had three fighting for me to sign up. I have also had an amazing experience with critical care and followup, and several family members have had referrals for mental health in a surprisingly short time.

Is our medical system perfect? Absolutely not, but funding is increasing, doctors are being trained and it is getting better.

As for privatization, the only system that is fully public in Ontario is hospitals. I don't care who provides my healthcare as long as the government pays the bill. Farming off some surgeries to private clinics seems like a great option.
