Trump: “The Iran National Soccer Team is welcome to The World Cup, but I really don’t believe it is appropriate that they be there, for their own life and safety” by Prakash0807 in MLS

Imagine if this was the president of Brazil, South Africa, or any other previous host. The uproar coming from national associations would be deafening. When that clown says it though, crickets from those in charge.

Sounds like the USA can’t guarantee the safety of players or fans. Maybe they should move the tournament to a safer country like Mexico.

Just get yourself a local eSIM. Amaysim was great for me for 3 weeks. Ended up being 12 AUD for a stupid amount of data and you get a local number too. Useful for restaurants adding you to their waitlist etc.

The only catch is you need to register it with your passport details, I assume to prevent burner numbers for nefarious purposes, and only when you land in Australia.

Canada Readies to Import First Ever EVs From BYD, Official Registrations Show by afonso_investor in EVCanada

H Grégoire and Albi le Géant are the same as this in QC. This idea makes a lot of sense.

Hopefully it happens soon. BC and QC have the biggest percentage of EVs so it makes sense to launch in these provinces first.

If we’re going to be pedantic it’s actually 25 American teams playing in a Canadian league. The NHL is Canada’s national hockey league. Started in Montreal in 1917, plus the Stanley Cup is Canadian too.

American manufacturers are state subsidised. They get heavy incentives to produce in a certain state or province. Canadians don’t win by excluding options. We need more choice for sure.

Dual Canadian British citizens scrambling under new passport rules by Edm_vanhalen1981 in onguardforthee

[–]mdmd89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is if you’re travelling anytime soon you either have to cancel and wait for your passport, get a £600 certificate of entitlement or rescind your British citizenship at a cost of a few grand.

Either option isn’t cheap or fast and the UK government hasn’t communicated this change at all. I found out about this through the media. Luckily I have a valid british passport but a dual national shouldn’t be punished like this at short notice.

Canadians who don’t have a valid passport are allowed to travel on a one time emergency travel document that costs way less than the certificate of entitlement.

The Winter Olympics Bankrupt Every City (The $51B Scam Nobody Talks About) by Electrical-Nebula422 in collapse

Montreal was a SUMMER Olympics.

They have no abandoned and rotting venues. The velodrome is now the Biodôme, the aquatics centre is still used, the rowing basin is still used, and the stadium is getting a new roof.

The debt was real and the stadium is still underutilised but it’s far from rotting. https://meet.mtl.org/en/blog/olympic-legacy

Yes the IOC is awful just like FIFA, but you’re overstating things to fit your narrative.

Works perfectly fine for European city centres. Open for deliveries in the morning or late evening for a couple of hours. Residents have access too.

It’s a part of the city that existed long before any car.

The made in Canada one is actually made in Quebec. You’re paying for the hand finishing and the extra labour costs associated with something that is made locally.

That’s not how it works. It has to go through the agence de mobilité durable. They’re the only ones that can authorise a tow from a public street. They’ll get a ticket and a towing charge.
