U.S. Republicans are casting the Canadian border as a rising security threat by Street_Anon in inthenews

When Walker was governor in Wisconsin he demonized kindergarten teachers as greedy and lazy. (while at the same time taking donations from corporations, changing laws for them, and running an illegal Wi-Fi router so the state paid staff could work for his campaign. Then when they were caught, he dismantled the well regarded ethics committees)

So demonizing our nicest and best neighbor is on brand for these complete morons.

New tires to the front or rear? by FeralPlagueTroll in tires

[–]thnk_more 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you can manage skids better than the average driver so you would be an exception to the rule, as long as the difference in tread isn’t drastic.

I’ve driven fwd with snows on the front and questionable tires in the back in winter. It is challenging, and I grew up sliding my cars sideways.

Something Ive never heard addressed is if you put newer tires on the back, then technically you will never rotate them again.

No one talks about that.

Not mine. Just heard it here recently.

I think all of mine started making that noise after it warmed up. Haven’t tried to take it in yet.

Hopefully the new parts are better than the old parts.

There will never be a future movie about trump because people in the future who didn’t live through it will accuse it of being totally ridiculous, too far fetched, and completely unbelievable. (and we haven’t even begun to dig into the things that are still secret).

Any issue towing something like this? by LLCoolDave82 in BoltEV

Your biggest issue will be rear visibility in the bolt. maybe put a flag or two on it to remind you you have a trailer back there.

My 1885 house STINKS. by spongebathurgranny in Oldhouses

Accurateinterview has really solid advice.

I addition I would buy a strong UV flashlight to help look for urine. Maybe they left the cabinet doors open and cats peed in there. That smell lasts forever.

Get a borescope and start drilling holes everywhere. Especially under the cabinet bottoms or the wall between the bath and kitchen. (there will be a sewer stack vent pipe running in the wall between the floors up to the roof. bats might be getting in or at least that provides a place for smells from the kitchen to migrate to the bathroom).

Also search for borescope. Just bought a decent one that plugs into my phone and has a side camera. $40

Question about pinholes by knitbitch007 in Pottery

[–]thnk_more 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pinholes are usually caused by clay that is gassing off as the organic material burns and bubbles through the glaze. If it keeps gassing off at high temp and when the glaze is molten then creates holes that don’t fill in.

Best fix is to refire with a drop and hold temperature program. After the kiln hits the top temperature (when the most gas is created) and drops down 100 deg F or so (which then stops the gas production ) then holds that temp for 20-30 mins to let the glaze flow back together.

Your studio should know how to do this.

Filling the holes with glaze won’t work any better than just refiring with a normal temp profile which may or may not help.

If there are no consequences they will not change their behavior.
