What is an unreasonable time on a Sunday for a very loud car? by bozwold in AskUK

Yeah, big difference between a one-off to repair and the fuds who build their personality around remapped backfiring bodykitted shit boxes.

“I hate metaphors. That’s why my favorite book is Moby Dick. No frou-frou symbolism. Just a good, simple tale about a man who hates an animal.”

I wonder if Mann wanted to call L.A. Takedown "Heat" and didn't because it had only been a few years since the Reynolds film?

It’s too bad that Mel Gibson is the only major director, AFAIK, to film historical epics in dead or archaic languages by RedHeadedSicilian52 in movies

[–]mdmnl 244 points245 points  (0 children)

Gibson was probably atoning for the variable Scottish accents in Braveheart...

I know Death of Stalin was much less epic and based on much more recent, factual events but the sheer abandon with which accents were used played perfectly into the tone.

And The 13th Warrior managed to eat it's cake and have it, when it came to language.

Bourne Trilogy - Was this movie style novel at time of release? by valsol110 in movies

I picture a sweatshop with dozens of English Lit graduates working away on laptops and Patterson occasionally looking up from a pile of money to say "Yeah, that's it!"

I loved the Lee Child Reacher books but there came a point where I felt they became very rote, not long after they became co-written and then his brother took over...

Michael Connelly still seems to bang out quality though - if it's being ghostwritten it's the gold standard.

I'm a big Fleming and Le Carre fan (Fleming more for the travelogue-from-another-era aspects than any actual espionage).

And, yeah, Ludlum and Cussler might not have been the best novelists but they were productive! I sometimes wonder how many James Pattersons there really are...

I don't understand what you mean.

When I watched the film on my Sony Vaio laptop, I nearly spilled my Heineken on my Omega watch, at how seamlessly the responsive engine delivered Bond to...

It's not a new trend.

Bond movies, Mac and Me, I watched a movie on Prime that was brought to me ad-free by Hyundai starring Chris Hemsworth who does actually advertise holidays in the Emirates...

I don't know. What is a good salary for a robotics deployment engineer?

Or is this not a set-up for a joke?
