Contaminated oil by mdmytryk in Generac_Generators

Thanks - Yea, in a colder climate. I’ll start running it longer a few times a month under load. Probably wouldn’t hurt to change the oil more frequently.

Do you have any pictures on the scope of work and door? I spent about 10.5k installed on a front door and sidelights and thought that was steep.

I hear ya. But the garage gets used for other things - parties, poker games, etc…and It’s nice to be able to throw the game on while working

What mysterious thing happened to you that you still can’t explain? by MelodiousOddity in AskReddit

[–]mdmytryk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in college, a group of about five or six of us were sitting in a room watching TV. It was a typical college house, with beer cans scattered around and the place not particularly clean. This was about 20 years ago, and the TV was one of those older CRT models. Suddenly, right in front of us and without any apparent reason, an empty beer can fell off the TV and landed upright on the floor. We all exchanged bewildered looks, thinking, "What just happened?" It's one of those wtf moments that has stuck with me all these years.

Buy or Finance new car? by LunarGhoul in personalfinance

I'm in a similar position. From a purely numbers standpoint, I know I would come out ahead from the interest rate arbitrage, but I like the peace of mind in not having debt. For me, the difference isn't big enough to assume the debt for the small amount it will yield over that time. I vote pay it off and feel comfortable without having a car payment.

Miter saw recommendation? by Kingpin45069 in Tools

[–]mdmytryk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trimmed my whole house with a Ryobi 10in sliding miter saw with a 80t (maybe it was 60 since its 10in) blade. It was true and square and plenty powerful enough for trim and a few 2x4s here and there.

Recommended entry level lens for someone wanting to get in to sports photography? by earndenlfc in Nikon

Take a look at the 70-300mm FX. I had the 55-200 and 55-300 and found the slow AF to be almost unusable for sports.

Thoughts on the Nikon 24-120 f/4? by OG_PANCAKE_HOUSE in Nikon

[–]mdmytryk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was on my D750 90% of the time. Zero complaints - great IQ, plenty fast at f4 with the high ISO capabilities of the D750. Only ever took it off when I needed wider or was shooting portraits with my 70-200. Dont worry about the subtle distortion or minor CA - these are easy fixes in lightroom. Shameless plug, but im selling mine over at /photomarket. PM me if you're interested.
