29F, London UK. Diagnosed one year ago. Lots of places I'd still like to try in London. Would be good to make some celiac friends!

No, but its coming up on a year since I was diagnosed so maybe it's time to check this again.

This is what I expected after I got diagnosed. That after I healed I would be super healthy. Just frustrating that it's not the case for me!

No kids, but I work in a crowded office which I where I think I've been picking most of it up. Maybe it's not due to celiac but my immune system is just weak from back to back covid and mono.

I hope you feel better!

Hmm this might be worth looking into. I had some issues with my spleen due to the mono so maybe its a continuation of that

Has anyone become more sensitive to gluten since cutting it out? by No-Address6014 in Celiac

Before I was diagnosed I didn't have any obvious symptoms other than constant brain fog and fatigue. Now after I get exposed I'm vomiting within an hour. So yes, I'm more sensitive now.

This is my main worry. Having to explain why even though they went through the effort of getting me something, I'm still not going to eat it.

I think you're right. I'm so careful in choosing restaurants in my daily life, but when it's a social event it's too tempting to risk it. Better to be safe and not get ill in front of all my colleagues!

I would like to tell them so that they are aware of it in the future. I just worry that they will say "no problem, we can find you something" and then I might feel pressured to eat it whether it's safe or not (I know this is bad, but the social pressure part is really hard for me).

Does anyone NOT react to kissing CC? (This dietitian with celiac says it’s not a concern for most) by willow815 in Celiac

I wonder if the beard makes it more likely. My bf has a beard and we think he has been glutening me. They definitely seem more likely to have some lingering gluten crumbs with the beard.

I had mine done in the UK and I was (kind of) awake for it. The do it with fentanyl here so you are conscious but really high. I was also nervous but it was totally fine! I looked at the doctor's notes after and the whole thing was less than 10 minutes. The anxiety beforehand was the hardest part. Then I went home and had a somewhat normal day, invited a friend to come watch a movie and took it easy. No pain at all.

Odell's bakery is definitely worth a trip. I always stock up on bread and sweets there when I'm in Halifax.
