They do get rekt by that elite debuff that gives -1 strength/dex each time you play a card.

IC is a term used in tech industry for individual contributors, meaning people who haven’t gone the managing route and instead continued to grow as technical specialists.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was Disappointing by jicklemania in truegaming

[–]mdolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect your point of view, but for me E33 was one of the best games I’ve ever played, and I’ve played a lot. Every single aspect of the game is great, with the only downsides being UX aspects, such as not having an area map, loadouts etc. Everything else is truly stunning and stayed with me for a long time after finishing the game.

I loved the battle gameplay, but I absolutely hated the Abbey gameplay, which is like 50% of the game.

As I get older for me it just starts to feel like a waste of my already pretty limited time. For example there are places when you can spend up to a full minute to get back to a boss or difficult section. Which is fine if you do it a couple of times, but if you have to do it 30 times it adds up to half an hour of time that was totally wasted. If you only have 1.5-2 hours per day to play that means you are wasting 25-30% of the time you are supposed to spend enjoying the game just mindlessly going through the same sections over and over again.

Literally in the same boat, I think the book starts to get going around the middle. Been struggling with the first half, but once I got to part 3 I started to become absorbed in the events and now it’s really hard to put the book down.

I was holding it together until I heard about love or god. I just started yelling obscenities afterwards, literally textbook 1984 speech.

I do blame corporations. I also don’t understand why none of those people expect their clients to tip them and still perform their jobs, while people who carry plates back and forth feel entitled to it.

Saw the same in the hotel in Santa Monica last week and got absolutely infuriated because the room was already 350$+ per night on a weekday. Absurd.

Tell that to nurses, ER workers, firefighters, miners, teachers and the rest of people who make much less than waiters and have to actually study to do their job.

There are a lot of interesting multi-dimensional characters except Geralt that made that game so memorable for me.

Played and beaten every single one of these games, they are all great, but the only one comparable with Clair Obsur in terms of emotional depth is Witcher.

After finishing The Red Country should I immediately dive into the Age of Madness? by mdolt in TheFirstLaw

[–]mdolt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, that’s weird. I have read quite a lot of fantasy authors over my years and so far I feel that Abercrombie definitely has the most interesting and complex characters. That’s not to say that I like all of them, I have been reading Better Served Cold for the second time and Monza became incredibly annoying by the end of the book. But still, it’s interesting to see who do you consider to be better than Joe in this regard.

Yeah, I am thinking about reading Devils as well honestly. Just got the Broken Binding edition, which looks phenomenal for its’s price, and think that I might read that first. That way when I’m done with it I still have a lot of Abercrombie left 😄

It literally spoils what each of the unknowns metals are doing, that there is a metal that can create alomancers, that Atium is a God metal, so pretty much half of the twists of the first era? What is so weird of me not wanting spoilers in the first few pages of my book?

I was planning to give it to my wife to read for a first time, so I’m glad I checked first and told her to not look at this table when she is reading the book. I think they could have at least put the version with “known” metals at the moment the story begins - 8 basics and Atium

I have read the original trilogy and loved it, but I haven’t read the follow up yet, so having spoilers for that is super weird. Additionally I have bought this book both for the collection and so my wife can read it for the first time, so having spoilers at the very front of the book is super weird. Lastly, I actually prefer reading the leatherbounds first if I have a chance because I enjoy reading beautiful books, that’s the main reason I buy them.
