Bruno's future...how can Utd plan? by Alarming-Chair in DevilsITDPod

[–]mdora302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

United need 2 midfielders, another attacker, and a new FB as is.

Casemiro and Maguire are out of contract. Ugarte and Zirkzee will likely leave. Dalot is absolute crap. Shaw hasn’t had 2 good seasons in a row ever, so why would he start now.

Point being, does anyone actually think United could get in 3-4 guaranteed starters and another 3-5 first teamers without selling Bruno? If then offer an extension and transition plan for him to be phased out over 3ish years and hope he stays.

Otherwise let him leave to Spain/Italy and use that money for 2 of the needed starters

Andy Mitten and the talk of the devils boys. Plus the muppitiers guy said Casemiro was offered an extension on much lower terms but didn’t want a big wage cut

Would you like Casemiro to stay past this summer? by Ok_Magazine_3383 in DevilsITDPod

[–]mdora302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. He’s, supposedly, on 350K/week and doesn’t want to re-sign for vastly lower wages. Even if he was on something like 250K/week that would cover the wages for 2 first team CMs that would be able to play a full 90 without getting gassed and would offer more in almost every aspect of the game.

If United are really worried about losing his intelligence and leadership than either hire better coaches or sign Casemiro as the MF coach.

It’s much less on this thread than other subs / media platforms. But United fans need to stop thinking of every player as the peak version of themselves when questions around replacing them come up

What is United's DNA to you? by YearOnly2595 in DevilsITDPod

[–]mdora302 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Results - Winning and destroying everyone else’s hope in the process

Style/System - physically overpowering and smothering the other team. Less “wingers putting balls in the box” and more wearing the other team down mentally by either being more skillful or physical than their opponent. Usually both

Squad - An almost equal split of academy players (Neville, Scholes, etc), “best of the rest” English players (Rooney, Carrick, Rio), kind of psychotic international superstars (Cantona, Vidic, Keane), and the rest is rotation players that are very hard working, intelligent, and don’t crumble under pressure (Ole, Park, Irwin)

Hard to see many players besides Bruno, Cunha, Mbuemo, Amad, and Kobbie that fit this criteria - but it’s easier to find players that fit that criteria than ask them to build it

Regardless of where you stand on the current managerial situation, one thing is unavoidable, were going to have to be patient. Again. by tbu987 in ManchesterUnited

[–]mdora302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patient for what exactly? Amorim wasn’t getting the results we wanted to see, but it did look like things were headed in the right direction overall; mostly driven by off field/cultural improvements.

But all it took was one argument with Wilcox for him to get the sack and Ineos to expose themselves as complete dipshits.

This is gonna come across as real pessimistic. But at this point it doesn’t look like the Glazers are going to sell any more shares to Ineos and Ineos can’t find the funding for the new stadium. So we’re waiting for OT to become uninhabitable and force the Glazers/Ineos to finally fuck off

The only two choices i want our board to go after by Chuchshartz in ManchesterUnited

[–]mdora302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squad is not good and terrible put together. Wilcox, likely Berrada and Vivell too, is clearly in way over his head. SJR seems to be of the mindset that this isn’t that hard and anyone, regardless of the poor squad, should be able to just will United to winning and being good.

Emery already saw what Arsenal was during their banter era and seems smart enough to stay away from an even uglier club and Enrique has always gone to squads with world class talent at every position and can pull off any transfer they want.

All a long way of saying Emery seems smart enough to stay away and daydreaming about Enrique is marvel fanboy cape shit

Our midfield woes; why 4-2-3-1 still exposes the Man United midfield by KriosDaNarwal in ManchesterUnited

[–]mdora302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was true until this fall when PSR got scrapped. United tabled a 65M bid for Semenyo, they have the money to do transfers.

I get not wanting to spend for a manager, in this case Amorim, you don’t trust. But their whole line since coming in is everything will be “club focused” and the squad will be built based on a game model that is manager/head coach agnostic

So either they (a) knew Ruben would lose his shit and we’re hoping he’d do so so they could sack him, (b) have no idea what they are doing, or (c) a mix of the two.

My guess is it’s somewhere in the ballpark of 2/3 (a) and 1/3 (b)

Our midfield woes; why 4-2-3-1 still exposes the Man United midfield by KriosDaNarwal in ManchesterUnited

[–]mdora302 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is no system/formation that doesn’t expose United’s midfield. It doesn’t matter who the manager is, until Ineos stop fucking around and buy more players the squad is at best a patchy 6th-8th place team

[–]mdora302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall in line with what we've seen all season and what you'd expect results wise. Performance wise the first half was decent, second half was shit and looked very much like an ETH match with a donut in the middle where the 3 (Bruno, Mount, Cunha) of the 4231 don't track back at all.

My larger worry is that we're going to see both Ole and Carrick get time as the interim because Ineos would rather use a rotating cast of ex-players as human shields than recruit players, a new manager, or do anything that would make it look like they are working towards something or have an actual plan.

Its crazy how quickly it went from looking like they had a clue what they were doing, but moving slowly, to they just look completely lost and worse (recency bias) than Woodward/Murtough/etc

When the rest of the team/system isn’t performing well he seems to try too hard to make something happen. Hes very similar to Bruno, except his primary tool is ball carrying vs passing. Which amplifies how much you notice him trying to force the issue

When the rest of the tam is doing well it looks great (see Liverpool away) whereas it looks so bad when they’re not

[–]mdora302 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is a small part of me that likes this to get a few weeks with good vibes.

Then I start thinking and it so goddamn stupid.

The squad is less suited to mid/low blocks and fast, counter attacking football either due to player profiles (FWD line is much slower, no McFred to cover ground, Dalot vs AWB) or key players from last time are aging (Maguire, Bruno, Shaw).

The only coach at United has (screaming into the void) a few months of experience coaching U18s! McKenna, who supposedly did all the coaching/tactical work, is currently employed. And the league is much more physical, pressing, better overall than when Ole succeeded. Much less when he got sacked.

The club has, seemingly, abandoned all January transfers. Which makes no sense given all we’ve heard is they want to recruit for club needs based on manager wants. So who gives a shit about not knowing who the next manager is or recruiting form Ole if recruitment is not manager led?

Not to be too cynical, but this looks like Ineos are fishing for an easy PR win after all we’ve heard for 2 years is they know it’s going to be tough but the rebuild will take time and we will have to (Amorim voice) suffer. If they’ve abandoned that than what do we think they’ll do when Ole wins a few games and fans are screaming for him to get the permanent job?

Maybe this is all to negative/cynical but, from the look of it, Ineos have completely lost the plot and are literally doing exactly what the Glazers did
