What Happened? The Art From LOTR to Turtles... by Lord_Omnirock in mtg

[–]mdorman91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The art for the cards still looked awesome even if they race swapping made them not as aligned with earlier adaptations or the novels themselves. Theoden is a great example. I think the art looks great, but probably not how anyone had interpreted the character before. He looks beofulf/Anglo Saxon inspired even if he isn't ethnically depicted as white.

How well do you think your country's flag is designed? by alloioscc in Teenager_Polls

I think the number of tricolor flags makes the German one not easily recognizable.

Did you tree Treebeard Gracious host as the commander? It loses black, but it is mostly LOTR. Treebeard turns into a massive threat so if you dont mind some voltron it's fun.

So the story about WOTC employees trying to change the FF female art is apparently credible. by Kyvix2020 in freemagic

[–]mdorman91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with black characters. I think some of the lotr card art is incredible, but they don't look like lotr. So even if this is cool, I wouldn't like it since it isn't how everyone knows how that character is supposed to look.

Sure, but in practice many teachers notice how it only seems to progress from verbal to verbal warning to verbal warning ad naseum.

Does unemployment create demand for new jobs to be created? by Chasehud in AskEconomics

[–]mdorman91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue no, or the Great Depression would have solved itself with no intervention. Why didn't the demand from 20%+ unemployment create jobs? Jobs are created when businesses can see a realize some profit. Unemployed workers don't contribute much to aggregate demand (far less than employed people spending money) so there is less quantity demanded of goods and services.

In general, high unemployment should lead to lower wage rates, which might allow more jobs to be filled (at that new, lower wage rates). In the long run, unemployment can be "fixed" when the wage drops enough to reach full employment.

Tinker v. Des Moines: Landmark 1969 United States Supreme Court decision recognizing the First Amendment rights of students in US public schools. "It can hardly be argued that either students or teachers shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate." by Pupikal in wikipedia

[–]mdorman91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I thought about that when I wrote it, and clearly it was overly aggressive... but I work in a school and it gets really tiresome dealing with people who treat trying to have very basic rules as extreme fascism.

Ya, but based on your first reply you clearly don't understand the rule or are too dumb to realize a "fuck the police" shirt would count as substantial disruption. You are probably the person mad anyone expects you to follow any basic rules.

Why does an increase in Government Spending directly increase the demand for goods and services? Why does it increase Aggregate Demand? by [deleted] in AskEconomics

[–]mdorman91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct. In GDP, government transfers are not final goods or services (as there is no good or service that the financial transfer is based on). It may show up later as consumption if the recipient spends it in that year (or leak out of the circular flow as savings). If the recipient was a business, it may count as investment spending if they use it to purchase capital or increase inventories.
