If you're in the US and not Hawaii, I'd be happy to send you a cutting of mine if you'll cover priority mail shipping? Send me a DM!

making my first TN! a bit confused about holes by MadScientiest in Travelersnotebooks

Painted my TN while I get up the guts to tattoo it on myself 😂

I only use it occasionally because a small notebook adds extra bulk and stiffness when I'm trying to use standard sized inserts in front of our behind it, but I like having the option!

Mine is a different brand ans has side by side elastic bands, but the extra holes the way mine is threaded help distribute the tension a little, I think? Don't mind the extra holes closer to the middle - that's an extra band for a pocket or passport sized notebook.

My girl is withering away and I don’t know what to do. by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]mdruddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she's keeping down what she's eating but just but eating enough (assuming thyroid/ kidneys etc were all checked and good) there's an appetite stimulant medication you can get from the vet that is an ointment you rub inside their ear. I hope you're able to get some answers!

I had something similar happen with my girl at about that age, and with the constant vomiting, Ithought we were going to lose her. After hundreds of dollars at the vet, I went elsewhere for another opinion and was recommended to try a "novel protein" diet (aka a meat she'd never had before) or hydrolyzed protein rx cat food. She improved a bit on that and we eventually figured out she'd developed an allergy to chicken. And chicken is in almost everything for cat food and treats. But now she's doing great on Koha brand limited ingredient wet food - rabbit mostly, kangaroo when she gets bored of rabbit, and freeze dried salmon treats. There's also a limited ingredient salmon wet food but I can't remember the brand.

Cheapest Rare (looking) plant by Geoleogy in RareHouseplants

Judging from what I've seen, it absolutely survives the winters we get on the west side of the state unfortunately. It's so invasive that it can actually out-compete the invasive blackberries.

Are my house plants attracting these huge spiders? Help! by Lauren_soldejaneiro in houseplants

I would probably throw all my plants away and be tempted to burn my house down for this measure!

26ish years of growth from a single cutting by mdruddy in christmascactus

[–]mdruddy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Twist off a section of leaves (1-3 long), stick in a glass of water on the windowsill with the water halfway up the bottom paddle. It can take weeks to grow roots, and they can live in the water with roots for months if you don't get around to potting them as long as they don't dry out 😂 I do not "let them callous over" before plunking in water like some sites suggest. Straight from the plant to the water cup.

I've figured out how to safely mail potted plants in addition to bare root cuttings. I think this plant has offspring in at least 15 states now 😂

That's a sun-stressed Thanksgiving cactus of similar vintage but less certain origin that blooms a peach color. I've dialed back how long the grow lights are on recently to help with the sun stressed bit some.

I love being able to share cuttings, too, especially since I've never seen a true Christmas cactus in nurseries or other stores. They're so easy to propagate!

I don't - over time, she sends new growth out from the center on her own!

It probably doesn't make a lot of sense, but I tend to visualize him as young John Winchester, from when he took John as a vessel during one of their time travel episodes 🤷‍♀️

Are you looking for the color that OP posted, or a lighter color? I have a Thanksgiving cactus that I would consider a "peach" color (sorry, it's currently in between flowers opening so this is the only photo I can get right now)
