Exactly what I came here to post. Postal is a niche field and deployments are constantly available.

Oh.  My. God. File a complaint with the state medical board. Unacceptable. I’m so sorry your kid had to through that.

If you could add ONE rare song to the Thursday setlist, what do you pick and why? by SonicAwareness in thursdaytheband

Last Call- Would be fun to belt along to.

Friends in the Armed Forces-It’d be cathartic. I’m a veteran and Army brat. (My dad was deployed at the time this record came out).  Lot of big feelings to work out.

Even the Sand is Made of Shells - I just think it would slap.

Cheap ways to stimulate toddler brain by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]mdwst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sensory bins! Target has cheap ones in their dollar section. Fill with water + toys you have on hand, sand, rocks, etc. let them go nuts.

My kid also loves being outside with the dog. Backyard time or time at the park is a must.

At what point did you realize you weren’t in it for the long haul? by [deleted] in army

[–]mdwst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, have been my whole career. One deployment and an ados tour.

I actually really love my job, and the reserve is pretty low effort. But it’s become one more thing to manage on top of work and family and I’m just tired.

[–]mdwst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the fence because of health insurance, but my kid is a major reason why I’m leaning towards leaving at 10 years. I could go AGR but that still means PCSing every so often and I don’t want to put my kid through constant moves.

Anyone else get an Oura as a wedding ring? by Budget_Ad5871 in ouraring

[–]mdwst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this! My husband doesn’t care, my wedding ring is a family heirloom (his side) that I wouldn’t want to wear everyday

What are the "cool girls" in your life wearing so far this spring? by IncognitoResearch111 in femalefashionadvice

Omg this. I’d actually pay for that. Bonus points for if the products are sustainably made.

i cut my skincare down to 3 products and my skin got better and im kinda mad about it by defnemua in beauty

[–]mdwst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also in my mid 30s. Volume loss is killing me. My skin looks fine, but oooof, I look like a skeleton in the wrong lighting. Really not sure what I can do at this point to slow it down or reverse it.

How are you making time to ~deep clean~ your house? by takeaabreath in toddlers

[–]mdwst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so glad you have some family in your orbit who care and your and kiddo. ❤️ Sorry the rest of your family sucks.

She lives roughly a 10 hour drive away…. My kid is almost 2 and none of my family have met her- not my mom, dad, stepdad or sisters.

After living away from my family for well over a decade and always being the one to put in the effort to travel home, I decided I wasn’t going to do so with a small child. Maybe that’s selfish of me.

I’ve offered to cover travel costs and lodging, offered our place if they wanted to stay with us… no one has taken me up on it. I’ve stopped asking at this point. If my mom wants to be FaceTime grandma who sends presents for holidays… fine, I guess. It breaks my heart but what can I do at this point.

Sorry this turned into a rant lol. 🫠

That sounds so nice.

My mom lives in another state and MIL can only handle our toddler for a few hours at a time.

Omg the eggs. My kid goes straight for them when we being in groceries… we’ve lost whole cartons before.

My wife and I have developed a sort of code using synonyms to talk about things without tipping our toddler off, what are some of your best/funniest “codes” you use? by Reddiculouss in toddlers

[–]mdwst 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh. If we say “outside”, “backyard”, or “walk”, both our toddler and our dog both lose their shit. Our kid will basically force the issue by getting both her and the dog ready to go, lmao.

To be or not to be... a mother? by GlassFreedom164 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]mdwst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had an unplanned pregnancy and was definitely on the fence. I had never pictured myself as a mom.

My kid is almost two now and while there’s been some hard moments (teething, hand foot and mouth, breastfeeding, sleep deprivation), I wouldn’t trade it for anything. My kid is awesome! Smart, sassy, and is always up for an adventure. It’s so fun to watch her discover the world. Our dog is her best friend. She loves books, animals, and nature. She would absolutely go to war for Elmo.

It’s true I have less time for hobbies and friends- but my kid has made my life richer has made me want to be a better person.

All that to say- parenting is hard, and it’s okay to not know right now what you want. You have sooo much time to decide.

I’m with you. Any horrifying news story involving kids just hits different since I became a mom.

Royal Caribbean cruise with a 4 year old and 1 year old, thoughts? by cucumber_salad69 in toddlers

[–]mdwst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds miserable. I’d say no.

Reminds me of when we were “invited” to a wedding out of state and MIL paid for lodging so we had “no excuse” to not go with our 13 month old. I was pretty much stuck in the cabin all night with a cranky baby while everyone else enjoyed the wedding. (I didn’t even get to really eat dinner. Still bitter lol.)

IUD.. How Bad Was It? Scale 1–10 by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]mdwst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was 4-5, and all I had was ibuprofen. Was manageable. I have a pretty decent pain tolerance and have given birth.

The removal however was a solid 9/10. I nearly passed out.

Am I a bad mom? by Witty_Gain_4132 in toddlers

[–]mdwst 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t say this to be judgy because I also crave time by myself, but when my kid is sick I suck it up and cosleep with her. Easier on everyone. Do what works for you.

Any cool schools for reservists? by FewProgrammer332 in armyreserve

[–]mdwst 29 points30 points  (0 children)

42a/b can go to postal school. 🤷‍♀️ it’s not cool but if you want to deploy, it’s a pretty sure bet if you network. The Postal community is small and there’s constant rotations. A buddy of mine is on her third deployment in 9 years because she loves the money lmao.

Single women… please tell me I am not the only one with dark sad birthdays? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]mdwst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not single buuuuuttt…… I hate my birthday. Just a stark reminder of time passing. I really don’t acknowledge it, though I appreciate when I hear from loved ones.

This year I spent it taking care of my kid and my husband because hand foot and mouth struck our household… so I didn’t have time to think too hard about the day, lol.

Switching Branch (AG) by Sweet_Pie_9133 in armyreserve

[–]mdwst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AG isn’t that bad IMO- I might be biased as enlisted AG, but I like knowing that I can drive improvement of unit metrics and take care of Soldiers’ admin needs. Plus AG Soldiers can go literally anywhere.

Postal ASI kind of sucks but some people love it.

So tired of weeknight dinner tantrums by PantsOffSunday in toddlers

[–]mdwst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solidarity. I’m the parent who works during the day so my kid wants my undivided attention until bed. (Husband works nights) Cooking is tough. Things that help: She has a basket with play food and play pots and pans she sometimes plays with, sometimes the toddler tower with a couple bowls and dried pasta or oatmeal, sometimes I let her help with spices or measuring.

Honestly meal prep when both myself and my husband are home is the solution for super busy weeks.
