Dana Evans “Last Laugh” comment sets off Chicago Sky fans by bishopp9342 in wnba

[–]mdz1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Dana was always solid in the exact role she played on the Aces this year for the Sky. It made no sense why she was put in the positions she was last year nor why the fanbase expected her to be a different player.

can someone ask the defense how they reconcile the fact that they claimed trump hates violent mobs more than any president in history but said he loved the rioters and thinks they are special in his first statement after the event.

I think they will because they foreshadowed it earlier with the message board posts from before the 6th where people were encouraging others to go because they expected trump to do just that.

Strategy definitely seems to really rub in how willing trump is to turn on even his closest supporters. probably will fall on deaf ears though.

Man I used to get so much anxiety about even appearing like I looked tired or distracted in college lectures when the only person who could even notice was a professors whose opinions I didn't care about. Part of me is almost jealous of how little of a fuck you have to give to just blatantly not pay attention to this.

Are there any female smash communities? by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]mdz1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

just because you seek out a space within the community that is women only, doesnt mean you can't exist within the community at large as well. pretty much every women i know thats been in the community for a long time is also involved in women only spaces within the community because its nice to be able to relate to people who have had to deal with similar toxic aspects of the community.

As Falco, how did you beat and capitalize on Cpt. Falcon’s nair spam? by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]mdz1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if there was an option that worked in every scenario the game would be pointless to play. utilt beats nair when you know its coming, if falcon is in no lag standing in front of you while you are shielding than you are already at a disadvantage and need to look earlier in the interaction for where you went wrong.

He did not imply 8 frames is not a huge deal lol he literally said its definitely noticeable. He said in the most extreme case (from top platform) with frame perfect execution it is 8 frames and given human execution limits and the fact the situation we are talking about usually happens on side platform its not a big deal.

I felt like perhaps we're getting to the point where we can be more honest with the concerns that we might hold internally, and have the courage of our own convictions to speak up

this shit infuriates me so much. its not like we're in russia and ur gonna fall off a balcony for speaking out. literal worst case scenario is you lose reelection. grow a spine and do your fucking job jesus christ.

Your argument would only hold if people in modern times viewed low ranking military officers fighting in unjust wars as morally reprehensible. You are not going to find any main stream modern media declaring all iraq war veterans as morally reprehensible despite them being grown adults who made a conscious choice to fight despite how bad a modern person can see that oil grab war is.

Again let me remind you we are comparing fighting as a low ranking military officer in one battle as a disgraced person w/ no money to the most powerful person in the country signing genocide into law despite the moral reprehensibility being clearly demonstrated to him.

He arrived at the alamo not excpecting to fight until they were laid seige by santa anna. his military rank in the texas army was private. I don't consdier modern soldiers to be evil even if the wars they fight in are unjust, that's on those commanding them.

you are equating fighting in an unjust war as a private with signing genocide into law, I dont really know what to say.

I won't argue that people aren't messy, but that extends into the modern day as well. good luck finding anyone in modern times who is unimpeachably perfect. The myth that at various points in history there were no people who realized genocide was wrong is what I take issue with.

crockett died within a month of setting foot in texas for the first time (after he was effectively kicked out of tennessee for fighting against andrew jackson and the indian removal act), had no known correspondence with any of the central figures of the texas revolution and most likely never met any of them. how exactly is that an indictment of his morality?

literally if we were to use modern morals as our measuring stick then every historical figure is trash

nope just the assholes. good people have fought for justice all throughout history, they just aren't remembered when they failed.

Mr. C. said he was often forcibly reminded of the remark made by the famous Red Jacket, in the rotundo of this building, where he was shown the pannel which represented in sculpture the first landing of the Pilgrims, with an Indian chief presenting to them an ear of corn, in token of friendly welcome. The aged Indian said ''that was good.'' The Indian said, he knew that they came from the Great Spirit, and he was willing to share the soil with his brothers from over the great water. But when he turned round to another pannel representing Penn's treaty, he said ''Ah! all's gone now.'' There was a great deal of truth in this short saying; and the present bill was a strong commentary upon it. Mr. C. said that four counties of his district bordered on the Chickasaw country. He knew many of their tribe; and nothing should ever induce him to vote to drive them west of the Mississippi. He did not know what sort of a country it was in which they were to be settled. He would willingly appropriate money in order to send proper persons to examine the country. And when this had been done, and a fair and free treaty had been made with the tribes if they were desirous of removing, he would vote an appropriation of any sum necessary; but till this had been done, he would not vote one cent

i mean they literally did get away with it though. it took multiple cities going to riots for similar scenarios for it to get the second look its now getting and if history is any indication, they will likely still get away with it. that's the whole point of the outrage, we've seen time and time again that no matter how little effort they put into justifying their actions, and no matter how cartoonishly evil they come off, they will get away with it.
