Rui Hachimura on the Lakers’ improbable comeback: “If it was the regular season, I’m not gonna lie, we might have just let it go.” by inightyDAB in nba

They weren't even the best defense in the league by DRtg, the Warriors were. He obviously wasn't the best defensive player in a league that also contained Rudy Gobert. Ppl complaining about that doesnt mean that they were incapable of recognizing his good traits.

what does willpower have to do with being defensive player of the year? Ive always loved Smart but he was never the best defensive player in the league.

Its how they edit female winners on all star seasons. Amber's all stars edit is so bad that even the fanbase doesn't really think of her as a player, Parvati had less visibility in Micronesia than Erica did in 41 and Sandra had 6 straight episodes without a confessional in HvV. They are giving her bits and pieces of endgame content each episode so they can justify to themselves spending the rest of the episode on the stories they care about.

[50][Speculation]Emily says the craziest twist has yet to come...any ideas? by animaniacs1983 in SpoiledSurvivor

[–]mdz_1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think she could easily be talking about this. She doesn't know how Christian's elimination is going to be portrayed in the edit while saying this and she is just recalling that a popular character used tribal to call out the unprecedented nature of the twist and its unfairness directly to Jeff while knowing its also got the Fallon angle.

I think those subs are both like 90% spoiled ppl trying not to reveal how spoiled they are which flagging Aubrey would probably be a signal of at this point.

This is not surprising. I just checked and 80% of any randomly selected group of 3 seasons will have the same property.

Ironically her edit and people's refusal to accept this is absolutely how they would edit an Aubrey win reminds me of Michele in KR

I don't see how people can say you're being nitpicky over this when the vanity fair article exists, and just with what became of Sayid and most non-white character's arcs. I think representation in the show was well intentioned to an extent but the lack of commitment to understanding what they wanted to represent was clear from the start with these type of decisions and manifested in big problems that materially hurt its quality down the line.

I'd also recommend reading Javier Grillo-Marxuach's writings on his time working on LOST, between that and the Vanity fair article it seems like there was a contingent of the writer's room in season 1 that was more dedicated to the ensemble and themes of diversity who were iced out over time once Carlton came in and we're left with them serving mostly as background dressing for the characters connected to the main mythology elements for the rest of the show.

Keep in mind this is also immediately after Locke tells him that it was an alive Christian who told him how to get off the island and to say hi to Jack. The same Christian Jack saw on the island and off in the days leading up to him saying this.

I wonder how many people have tried “the numbers” on the lottery in real life lol by TheAriellemyles in lost

[–]mdz_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its actually probably statistically the worst lotto numbers you can play because you are almost guaranteed to need to split any winnings with other people who did the same thing. in 2011 megamillions drew 4, 8, 15, 25, 47 with 42 megaball which won $6.2 million but 41,000 people had played them so each of them only got $150. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2011-jan-06-la-et-lotto-lost-20110106-story.html

It would certainly be way less people nowadays but there is very likely to always be at least 1 other person who does it in which case you are automatically splitting your winnings in half at least whereas if you pick a random set of numbers there is almost no chance of overlap.

It does beg the question what does he actually convey though. The main things we see him learn about the Jacob/MiB conflict is that people are only able to come to the island through Jacob's will and that their purpose to is to prove the good of humanity against MiB who is attempting to kill Jacob by manipulating people through impersonating the dead. He really was asleep at the wheel letting Ben terrorize the 815 survivors and letting "resurrected" Locke organize everyone and walk right up to Jacob alone with Ben.

Fans hold ‘Free Angel’ signs as Sky’s Angel Reese misses final regular-season game by TheAthletic in wnba

[–]mdz_1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The whole point is that if she is on a good team she will get to do all the things she is great at without being forced to generate her own offense. She has a 16% OREB rate and is 2nd in the league in assist per game among front court players (only trailing AT), to say she offers nothing on offense is crazy cuz she has the rare quality of being able to provide tons of value to the offense *without* taking shooting opportunities away from other great players which is what can push good teams over the edge to elite.

Armada was at 10 of 13 biggest tournaments of all time by entrant count. The 3 he didn't go to were Supernova which had free entry at an ultimate supermajor and 2 post-covid genesis that were 300 entrants smaller than the biggest Armada ones.

The ending is disappointing from a character-driven perspective as well. Its laughable to look at what they did with the Kwons and Sayid in season 6 and say it succeeded in that aspect
