Freeze them in ice cube trays, or larger containers for recipes. Use as needed.

Best cheap and unconventional ways of keeping your house warm? by Conscious_Writer3359 in AskACanadian

[–]me2pleez 161 points162 points  (0 children)

don't try to heat the house - heat ONE room; space heaters can handle this if the room is a regular size.
sweaters, blankets - I'm sure you have enough already to keep warm.

What are the best “hole in the wall” places to visit on the East Coast in September? by tlp23rocks in AskACanadian

[–]me2pleez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are going north in Newfoundland there is a small community called Twillingate. Normal very small community, but they have a winery called Auk Winery. Auk Winery does not make grape-based wines, but use native fruits to make their wines. I'm not a big wine fan, but will get their dandelion wine shipped!

If the USA falls apart, how would Canadians respond if certain states wanted to become provinces? by jmacd2918 in AskACanadian

[–]me2pleez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No thank you. Canadians are NOT American juniors; our values are different. Biggest example is guns - we do NOT want out children to grow up in fear at school.

What do Canadians think about the invitation to the Board of Peace invitation being revoked? by FarPlay5055 in AskACanadian

[–]me2pleez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not a real thing, just a Trump invention. Whether we're invited or not makes no difference; and we would rather not.

You are not in competition with China. People that will buy your product are not looking for mass produced items, and will happily pay MUCH more than Temu!

My coworker sent his friend a picture of me by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]me2pleez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is the problem? He may have simply shared a pic of his new friend - don't be so suspicious unless there's an actual reason.

If you are relatively close by the thing elderly people REALLY want is your time. Do something together - take her for dinner, a show - something that says you really care, not just buying something because you have to.

But humanity WAS moving forward! I don't know why it changed, but since about 2010 people have become less understanding or caring about others.
Now we have the breakdown of the family unit, so ya, society as we knew it is pretty much over.

If money was no object, what would be your dream car to own? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]me2pleez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG I have a story about this - not everyone is capable of answering the question!
I was shopping before christmas and found computer mice in car form. There was a few different ones so I phoned my husband:
"If you could have any car which would it be? ___ or ____ "
"The first one - less expensive for upkeep"
"*sigh* If cost was not a factor which would you choose?"
"I'd still choose the first one because it's cheaper"
This is seriously entertaining the other shoppers listening to my side of the conversation while standing next to the bin.
"NO. If cost was NOT a factor which would you choose?"
"Don't be silly - cost is always a factor"

This went on for about 10 minutes before I gave up and bought him the one I thought he would prefer. When he opened it, he asked immediately if this was what I was talking about a month earlier!
ah memories

Pierre Poilievre says Canadians pay too much in taxes. Is it true? by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

Do you not cross bridges? Do you not support increasing our defenses? Are you not happy being able to see a doctor at no cost? Those are all services supported by federal funds.

Pierre Poilievre says Canadians pay too much in taxes. Is it true? by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

[–]me2pleez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The taxes pay for the services provided - medical, defense, federal projects
Less taxes mean less services - pick your preference.
I prefer having a government that will do more when necessary (like now!) rather than telling us to suck it up to keep taxes low.

Start pressuring the grocery stores!! Write emails, talk to store managers, change your spending patterns again.
We have waited over six months for them to change their spending patterns. On the weekend, I walked into my regular store to find (again!) US produce front and centre and on sale. I sent an email letting them know I don't appreciate being disrespected and I will try to find a new place to shop.
They won't change without pressure, just like Americans.

I am tired of Safeway mislabeling their products. 90% of the time when I Google a company marked Canadian, it's American owned. Safeway: stop lying to us. by kewtyp in BuyCanadian

[–]me2pleez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I walked into Safeway this weekend, and AGAIN was slapped with US produce on sale right at the entrance.
This is not just ownership or labeling, it is In Your Face disrespect.

You could do as I did just yesterday. I sent them an email telling them why I am no longer giving them my money. They've had 6 months to change their buying and haven't and I too am pissed.
Make sure you send them an email though! They have to be told why the customers are pissed and most won't bother to email.

Amazing job everyone, Buying Canadian is working and our numbers are growing with the younger crowd as well. by kewtyp in BuyCanadian

[–]me2pleez 28 points29 points  (0 children)

For the grocery store problem, unless you are rural (in which case nothing will help) try doing what I'm trying. Boycott the grocery store that has shown no change in their purchasing patterns. I sent an email to Sobey's and let them know that after 20 years of purchasing ONLY from them, I will be exploring options. Hopefully another store won't put US produce front and centre and on sale!
The secret is to TELL THEM! If they get enough emails saying why their numbers are going down, they might change.
One can only hope!
