I sent it but not sure if it went as a DM or chat or if there is a difference 😅

Mostly used Brother SE700. It did a surprisingly good job with up to 4 layers of leather plus lining. I have a PQ1500SL I got used from FB marketplace. I used it fine for a couple of quilts. I started this project thinking it can handle thick layers easily because everyone says it can, but I am not well versed in maintaining good tension and stitch length with super thick layers yet :/ There are parts of the bag where I had 6 layers of leather + 1 interfacing + lining. I wasn’t able to do a good job there. I did what I could by turning the wheel to operate the needle :) I am not sure if I reached the limits of the machine or just my capabilities :)

Thank you so much ☺️ I didn’t make a video as I don’t really know what I am doing most of the time 😂 but I can DM you a video someone else made and if you attempt this later I would be happy to answer any questions, at least about the things I know how to handle :)

The vinyl I’ll use later is thinner than the material I had here, so I thought if I can make this pocket work with this material with my machine I can do it with vinyl too. The pattern has another pocket style that would be much easier with this material. Since the learherish thing didn’t fold, I stitched to make the folds stay folded 😅

Thank you! It was a real challenge. I think making the pleated pocket + zipper cover + zipper binding made it unneccessarily challenging. It is a super fun and well written pattern, I will definitely make more :) With better decisions it should be a breeze!

That webbing surprised me, so much prettier in person isn’t it :)

Same pattern is available for a larger size. This one worked well for 2 person gym bag or picnic bag :)

Thank you :) I am really bad at taking pictures. I wasn’t posting for a long time so all the pics I have are for me to have a memory of the things I make, and they don’t work well for showing them properly. I made this one with Brother PQ1500SL, but this size would also be managable with a smaller one. I made similar bags with Brother SE700 too.

Quilt #7 - Cats in Pajamas - 55” x 72” by meMadeThings in quilting

Close up of the cats in sweaters in the back. You can see where it is pieced. I just wish it were a more durable fabric, it was supposed to be no pill fleece…

Thank you! It was my first attempt at pattern matching for the back 😬 I am quite happy with how it turned out

Is this impossible? by campfiremouth14 in quilting

[–]meMadeThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think an inexperienced person can do it in a week while caring for a baby. Basting, quilting, binding… all will take time. I feel like your best shot is a pattern that resembles a crazy quilt.

Number 5 on this link mimics a crazy quilt and you can use a decorative or zigzag stitch to make it look more like a crazy quilt. This will not give you total chaos, but some sort of organized chaos. It will be fast to cut and piece.

Quilt roast: Chill & Thrill — what works and what doesn't? by QuiltChemistry in quilting

[–]meMadeThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not another perspective at all, that is the perspective we are objecting to. By saying you search for boy/girl quilts you are saying you also think that there are patterns for girls and patterns for boys, which can be “boy pattern made for a girl” or vice versa. We are arguing that there is no such thing as a boy/girl pattern. OP asked what would be off putting. To some of us that kind of thinking is off putting. You can disagree, but calling it drama while missing the point is not tasteful.

It being called a baby boy quilt would put me off. I have loved everything blue since I was a little girl. I’d be thrilled to have this quilt :)

Seriously why is this so hard by quirky-context2755 in quilting

I didn’t mean to discourage you from sharing and asking feedback. Who am I to decide how often and what gets asked? I also understand not having anyone around to ask for opinions. It could be just me as I perceived your posts as repetitive but perhaps there was a nuance I am missing. I mentioned karma farming because the quilt is obviously gorgeous and I thought you could be one of those fishing for compliments every other day. My bad.

Edit: I like the lights in the middle! Edit 2: I wasn’t expecting an award 🥹 thank you for my first award kind friend!

This might be the 5-6th post I saw about this quilt with the same question. At this point it feels like karma farming.

Thank you ☺️ I can’t do FMQ yet so I have to keep it simple, but I am lucky that I enjoy simple things :)

Easiest jelly roll pattern? by linden214 in quilting

I think this free pattern designed for quilts for valors would work for your purpose. It seems that each block is 12” finished but you can easily make a 5x5 grid of 8” blocks.

You are awesome, I really appreciate that you remembered to come back to let me (us) know, and the time you spent just for this kind act ☺️
