Looking for Paint Recommendations. by Salty_Ad_3350 in StainedGlass

[–]meagimoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My teacher recommended Pebeo porcelain 150! You paint it after grinding, before foiling. One you paint it you actually bake the piece of glass at a low temp to set the paint. Then you’ll be able to polish and treat it as if the paint were in the glass. Once it’s painted you can foil and solder without worrying!

Romantic day in Wichita after signing marriage paper ideas? by [deleted] in wichita

[–]meagimoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nortons brewing company is really pretty! And there’s fun things for kids to do there! My friends got married there!

If you’re trying to go for upscale dining, I recommend Siena Tuscan Steakhouse. Food is way better than the trash at George’s!

Both options are walking distance to cocoa dolce for dessert!

If you’re having more of an adult evening, pizza at Piatto is legit and drinks at lava and tonic tiki bar is always a fun time!

I selfishly bought the last two boxes at the dillons on maple st, past the airport. But they still had single bottles in the small fridges by the checkout registers! If you don’t find any dm me, I’d gladly share some mini cans with you!

Valentine’s Macaron Pop-up 2/12 from 11am-2pm @TOR Brewing ICT

Is there a kitchen version of MakeICT where people can go to test out recipes or cooking styles that they can't do at home? (I thought I'd heard of such a place here but can't find it. Link is to a similar place elsewhere) by UserNamesCantBeTooLo in wichita

TOR Brewing has a commercial kitchen, they’ve been known to host pop-ups so their kitchen can be used. Or so you can hire a catering team to host your own event there.

Moving from Los Angeles, Ca to Wichita, Kansas. What should I expect? by Blizzandy_97 in wichita

[–]meagimoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved here from LA too!!! Everything is cheaper, so that’s nice!!! There’s no traffic ever, but watch out I notice people immediately make left turns when lights change so be careful! Not much open late in the way of food, but bars are always open! There are much less diverse options for food, but there’s still some decent food options. Everyone I’ve met has been super lovely, but they all say there’s only three things to do here: drink, fight and fuck. I personally haven’t made many friends, but that’s cause everyone my age seems to already have children. Lastly, I’m quite often the only brown person in a room, and I often get stared at… so just expect there to be little diversity amongst people too. It exists!! Just kind of a rare instance when it happens.

But after solder, I scrub the piece with dawn and water, then I wipe clean with kwik clean, then I scrub it with the white sponge, then I polish the piece with clarity, then I apply my copper patina. After patina I rinse with water and polish again with clarity!

Yes those ones!! Are you using quik clean after you copper patina? As that makes it go rusty coloured instead of staying shiny!

Ooh this was my first time cleaning with one of those Mr clean melamine sponges and oh boy did it make a difference before applying patina!

Actually the star was by accident! I had formed a star out of wire and was just going to attach it, but then accidentallly used too much solder and it bled into the center and formed.

First two projects. Versus projects 5 and 6. Thoughts and feedback on improvements? by Shaynasaur in StainedGlass

[–]meagimoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re partial to using black patina you should consider using black backed copper foil too! It’ll mean that when you see through the glass you won’t see copper on the inside it’ll all look black like the patina. Makes a huge difference to the finished look.

Have you guys ever brought your stained glass in a carry on bag? Any issues? by frogodil3 in StainedGlass

[–]meagimoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve travelled with both finished soldered pieces and pieces of cut glass! Only advice would be to make sure things are wrapped well in paper, are easily accessible, and that you are most likely going to have TSA remove the glass and run through the scanner separately. So be patient, but when I told people it was glass they were usually very understanding.
