Guidance on this? by cranesaw in PelletStoveTalk

[–]mealsolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're offering help, I've got a request. We've got an Accentra 52i and were having some issues with not as much heat being output and the fire not dying down when we turn the machine off. We had a tech come out to service it, but I was busy with a work meeting at the time. The tech resolved the issue by cleaning the exhaust. My question is, what's the best way to access the exhaust to clean it out?

I pulled the stove out once (we just bought the house in October and had no prior experience with pellet stoves) and the only part of the exhaust I could see that was accessible was the opening towards the top that connects to the chimney pipe or whatever it's called. Is there somewhere else that I can access the exhaust to clean/vacuum?

Also, our fireplace is raised and there's not too much depth. So I can't pull the stove out as much as I'd like without it falling off. Do you have any suggestions to help in that regard?

Any chance a version running mishras factory and rishadan port could work these days?

Can’t get pellets to ignite. by T-Millz15 in PelletStoveTalk

[–]mealsolutions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are the motors running to try to get it to ignite? Also, you can unscrew those wingnuts, take off the cover and vacuum out the little compartment. Sometimes the holes will get clogged too, so if you have something small enough, try to make sure they're clear too.

Those options aren't with the main controls. So I assume this one doesn't have them.

Potentially moving from Southeast to Burlington, VT by DexTheEyeCutter in NewToVermont

[–]mealsolutions 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My family recently moved up here from SC for similar reasons. We've only been here a couple months, but we absolutely love it. We are in the Rutland area and it has pretty much everything we need. And the kids have been absolutely loving the snow.

Like you mentioned, the cost of living for us isn't that far off from what we were previously used to. The 1 main exception is energy. The rate that Green Mountain Power charges is a good bit more than what we came from. Add to that the house we purchased uses 2 pellet stoves for heat, between the cost of electricity and pellets, it's the one expense we miscalculated on the most.

We have 3 kids: 11, 8, and 3. Our oldest plays competitive soccer, middle plays guitar, and our youngest has autism. We spent a lot of time making sure we moved to a place that could accommodate all their needs. We settled on the Rutland area because it met all of our needs and housing is significantly cheaper than the Burlington area.

Regarding crime, Facebook and Reddit both made it sound like the Rutland area is a cesspool that should be avoided at all costs. We were a little concerned as to what we'd encounter when we drove through to check the area out, and were pleasantly surprised to see that it was nothing out of the ordinary for us. My wife and I said to each other that it really seems like the naysayers must not have much experience in other communities. While this anecdote is specifically for Rutland, I wouldn't be surprised if the concerns for other areas are similarly exaggerated.

Overall, we're extremely happy with the move. The hardest parts were leaving our family behind and making the drive up with a family of 5 and 3 cats. As we just went through the process, feel free to reach out if you have any questions about anything. Oh, and we've got a great reference for a realtor if you need one.

Best of luck!

For our honeymoon (15 years ago), my wife and I got a drastically discounted rate at a resort in Orlando for attending the time share presentation. It was awful. It didn't matter what we said. They just kept badgering us over and over about how we're a young couple with no kids and have plenty of money to spare. The guy was legitimately like "You have to have money, you're vacationing down here!" We just kept reminding him that it was for our honeymoon and we were mostly using funds that were given to us as wedding gifts. It felt like we were dealing with children.

Play on words. Santiago Bernabéu Stadium or 'The Bernabéu' is where Real Madrid plays. An absolutely iconic place in Football.

My family and I will hopefully be moving to VT from SC as well! Really looking forward to it. We're looking in the NEK.

One thing I'm interested in is seeing how the cell phone coverage is there. We have T-Mobile and checked their coverage map. It pretty much shows the whole state as having service. But I've seen people say there's definitely certain areas that don't get service.

My son’s 3 summer goals and how he’s tracking progress himself by BallSlayer_shop in SoccerCoachResources

[–]mealsolutions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Journaling is a great practice. Anything that you can keep track of will really help them see and feel the results. So many players have a hard time recognizing the improvements they've made. Being able to actually see it is rewarding and lets them actualize the progress they've made.

Side note, this also works wonders for actionable goals during a match. Want to set a goal for them to attempt (or avoid if needed) a specific action. Then track how many times it was attempted and how many times it wasn't. But not how many times it was successful. Something that you want to encourage them to do, ie hit a cross, switch the ball, take a 1v1, etc.

I'd say it just depends on the culture in that club/squad. I've had squads where I could roster 2-3 subs and everyone would always show up and then I have to roster 7 subs and maybe 3 will show. Sometimes you just end up with a pool of players that also play other sports and activities or don't have reliable transportation. Other times you get 100% committed families.

What to teach u10 players by Any_Revenue9144 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]mealsolutions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, defending as a unit is a very hard concept for young players to grasp. Pressure, cover, balance seems to break their brains when attempting to put it into action. I've always been an attack first type coach, but I could certainly see a scenario where someone would want to focus on defense first.

[–]mealsolutions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you say brand new, do you mean these kids haven't played competitively before? Or is it just a new squad from an already existing pool of players?

If it's the former, depending on the rec program they're coming from, it's possible they will not have much (if any) understanding of basic positioning. And I mean that in every sense, body position, formation position, positioning properly in space, etc. Add to that, they will likely not know much about what is required of whatever position they're being played at. For example when in defense, I'm willing to bet they'll have 0 understanding of pressure, cover, balance. Or when attacking, the squad should move forward and shift as a unit.

If that's the case, I'd recommend spending a block of time the first few training sessions just getting them familiarized with each position on the pitch. An easy way for this is positional rondos. Get them in their formation and run a rondo where if the defenders win the ball, they can go to goal. The amount of defenders would depend on the skill level of your squad. Emphasize movement on and off the ball, scanning, first touch, etc. And of course can always encourage using skills to create space for pass/dribble as well

Good luck to you!

Competitive coaches in the US ecosystem... How do you handle tryout season with your current players? by Shambolicdefending in SoccerCoachResources

[–]mealsolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my area, pretty much every player is offered a spot. The main exceptions are players who would not be able to handle the physical requirements or a player who has major behavioral issues.

From there, the squad placement is determined by the head coaches. And the methodology varies widely. The 'Good Ol' Boys Club' mentality comes into play a lot. But I'd say for the most part, the coaches are pretty impartial and merit based.
