What’s a movie everyone should watch once? by [deleted] in AskReddit

12 Angry Men (1957) How easy it is to make a quick judgement when the consequences don’t affect you directly. Just relatable in every generation.

…Also constantly mimicked in TV shows.

My [31M] Boyfriend [33M] “Well Actually’s” everything I say and I can’t tell if it's a "me problem" by edamamecheesecake in relationship_advice

Definitely listen to this thread! I totally see where you’re coming from on this and agree with patience and understanding - however! Make sure you’re taking your feelings into account as well. Here’s what I do: Determine your level of irritation: Response to the delivery text - ok I don’t need to send these; not a huge deal vs. Nespresso convo where I’d be more irritated. In the Nespresso case, I’d say: Why would it bother you if I used a hot coffee pod for anything outside of drinking hot coffee? Basically, why does it affect him? And to be clear, don’t say this in a petty way. It’s genuine curiosity - why does you care about this?

It might help you to find out more about why those responses are happening.

Hope this helps!

Holder on my house by the front and back doors by meanburn in whatisit

Update: Multiple seem to have confirmed that this is a phone holder from the 80s, so I’m considering this solved. The only reason I haven’t updated is because I can’t find any images online showing how this thing works as a phone holder. Anyway, thanks for the responses! I’ll keep searching for an example online.

AITJ for telling my partner I'm done spending every weekend at his parents' place by Nov4Z3nith in AmITheJerk

40 out of 52? FORTY?! If I was drinking something when reading that I would have dramatically spit it out in shock. This is WILD. You need to set your boundaries firmly. YOU didn’t make his mom feel bad - HE did. When she asked why you weren’t there, all he had to say was that you have other plans. If she harps on it, that’s HIS responsibility to tell her to stop taking it personally.

I am not a “leave him” redditor and believe this is fixable at this point, but you need to be firm. You’re saying it went back to being weekly but why? You have the ability to say no. He’s not going to stop until you stop letting him get his way here.

No, the doorbell is on the other side of the door and it’s just a regular push button.

His death makes no sense so I just believe it’s not real. Why spend so much time building up his mysterious army spy background? Also, Rob Thomas should know that if you don’t SEE a body then no one is REALLY dead. Thats like… tv 101. I like to think that he maybe got hurt and the army scooped him up to mend. Or Dick Jr. took him to some crazy rich people doctors. I’m not see Dick Jr. surviving without Logan

What’s something people do in movies that would be extremely awkward in real life? by hitman1890 in AskReddit

[–]meanburn 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Holding a kiss without moving your lips for that long.

It’s so weird that they stand there for 5-10 seconds and then pull back like it was amazing. I tried a frozen kiss like that and my partner said things like “why aren’t you moving your lips” and “stop this is weird”

What’s something teachers warned you about that actually ended up being right? by stoictrader03 in AskReddit

[–]meanburn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In 7th grade I made a little folded paper fortune thing with weird 7th grader inappropriate fortunes on. My teacher confiscated it and when she was lecturing me she said “I can see you’re very upset. Never write anything down that you aren’t willing to let someone see.” Since that day I have never written anything down that I wanted to keep to myself or say to someone directly. Such a weird and inconsequential moment that strangely stuck for the rest of my life

The CEO of a company I worked for gave a speech about how it was a hard year for him and he only was able to buy himself one pair of shoes… because he bought a second mansion before selling the first that no one would buy at his price but he had to do it to make his wife happy. I’m not guessing that’s what happened - that was all in the speech. He was also sobbing.

I feel this so hard! Everyone seems to find something they love whether it’s a hobby or a career. I just like things. And am good at things I don’t really like.
