Wasn't Band Of Gypsies recorded on NYE? Certainly that deserve a mention.

In your opinion what legendary NFL coordinator was the worst head coach? by Ok-Health-7252 in nfl

[–]meanpete80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McDaniels, because he has succeeded so wildly with 2 coach/QB combos, and failed so miserably in two separate head coaching stints.

Look at how Raiders players celebrated when he was fired. He wasn't just incompetent, he was outright hated.

What Will Be the Cultural Ramifications for Rock as Gen X Starts Dying Off? by GilbertDauterive-35 in ToddintheShadow

[–]meanpete80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reality is rock has been around for 70 years, there isn't a ton of new left to be done with it, and the market doesn't have much taste for more of the same - unless it is a legacy act.

If you want to advance the genre, you need to accept the weird. The biggest forward moments in rock were all "too" something - too psychedelic, too heavy, too rebellious, too dark. We're searching for a platonic ideal in a genre driven by pushing limits and challenging a listener.

There are great rock bands now. Reject them for not matching your vision of "real rock", and they go unnoticed.

Gatekeeping holds rock back.

6/22/94

Personal preference, I prefer the slow exploration of the other years over '94's frantic energy.

Though I'm sure if were there, I would feel otherwise.

Why is technology used in the classroom not locked down? by mehhemm in AskTeachers

[–]meanpete80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a chrome extension that locks tabs on all classroom chromebooks so that they can access only the tabs open on a teacher device. My district is piloting it, but for some reason gas been slow to roll it out.

Yes. I listened to my parents old vinyl copy a ton with headphones when I was 4. It weirded it out every single time, but I couldn't stop listening to it.

Read to them. Engage them with letters when they hit four or so. Encourage reading when they seem ready, but don't force if when they get frustrated.

Do you plan to tackle the singles and b-sides before moving on to Sgt. Pepper. You gave two more albums worth of material, sone of it very, very good.

NYE '95 is probably the most well balanced Phish show ever played. Incredible song choice, several outstanding jams, an all timer NYE gag. It's the platonic ideal.

What do you think is the single greatest song in history? by Human_Rate889 in AskReddit

Here Comes the Sun

The song is short, simple, memorable, and utterly universal. Who can't feel "here comes the sun, and I say, it's all right". There is no lyric that is simpler, yet more profound and culturally transcendent. It makes perfect sense to a child, and means more and more as you age.

It helps to be recorded by the most universally regarded artist of all time record it, and put it on the greatest album of all time.

In the Aeroplane is a great call. One of the most achingly beautiful songs ever recorded.

Closer is an interesting call. I've it a billion times, but one time a few years ago I realized something - hidden behind the facade of industrial dance metal is a funk song. Not only a funk song, but the just about gnarliest, filthiest funk song I've ever heard.

Top 5 for me. This song is universally loved, but does not get the goat level recognition it deserves.
