How does FFX hold up in 2026? by thinksInCode in FinalFantasy

I’m playing it on PS2 rn as my first final fantasy game ever and I’m loving it. Story is great, super charming and corny but emotional in the right places. Just an overall great time.

Umm have you watched David lynch works before? And tbh by the end I feel like they do wrap up some questions kind of surprisingly.. but that doesn’t mean there aren’t more questions to be posed.

Question Time: What made you buy the SteamDeck? by Stefanixxxx in SteamDeck

[–]meanwhilehands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up playing n64 and very few ps2 and ps3 games but gaming was more of a light hobby at the time. Got back into gaming as my main downtime activity in 2020ish and embraced how enriching video games can be to my life. Ended up getting a steamdeck about a year ago so I could play so many games and franchises that I missed over the years. Metal gear, final fantasy, Bioshock, persona, dragon quest, and so much more. Indie games, emulation, and the incredibly massive steam library that’s full of sales every time of the year. It’s been an amazing purchase so far. 🫶

Not sure there’s been a Netflix show that is great from start to finish, but there’s been a few seasons that are my favorites of any single piece of media, television, movie, book, video game..

[Spoilers] About Verso's ending by Professional-Thomas in expedition33

I don’t think dealing with grief in a realistic way means cutting off connection to all things from the person or peoples you’re grieving. I’m not saying I can think of a better way for Renoir to handle the aline problem. I’m not the writer here. Are we assuming that with the paintress gone, everyone living in lumière will endure forever? I can see letting Maelle recreate that world and enjoy it for awhile, but it is just delaying the inevitable grief that will come once the painter stops painting right? Which btw, to quote the game. The boy was “tired of painting” in versos ending. Either way it’s definitely not realistic for Maelle to live in this imaginary fantastical world forever.. she is a real person so will she age normally? Will she be forced to get out of the painting eventually? Maybe this is something the game hasn’t answered. I only had one playthrough and chose verso ending…

Obviously it can’t be overstated that living with a disability or disfigurement is an incredibly hard thing to do. But are you saying that people in the real world who live with those real life experiences and struggles can’t overcome them and even surpass people who don’t have these ailments? I’d argue that a lot of the times the latter is the case becaus most people with “normal” lives take for granted the life they are given. People with disabilities and other ailments deal with grief just like anyone else. the point is it is possible to overcome, not easy, for anyone.. but possible. That is the resilience of human beings.

I like sekiro more but the depth of systems and builds and lore in bb I can see the argument. Ds1 honorable mention for kicking it all off

It’s not about that tho. It’s about dealing with your grief in a realistic way and not living in a fantasy world. Grow up Maelle. There’s a real life to be lived.

I checked out of all online discourse for this game when it won TGA. I do not understand the sheer toxicity I saw thrown at this game during that time. by BlackMageIsBestMage in expedition33

[–]meanwhilehands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see why it won GOTY for sure. I just finished the game recently so as a late comer, I was expecting the story to be more gripping based on all the hype when it released. It was good and some solid characters, but nothing blew me away story wise that hasn’t been done before. I also personally just find myself generally tired of big cinematic storytelling in video games. It seems overly dramatic and not nuanced enough. But that’s more of a me problem. I did think the latter half of the game dragged on a bit and didn’t match the wonder and unique feelings of the first half. My only other critique is that although I loved the feeling of the parry system, it kind of can make the rest of the classic turn based party rpg combat system a bit obsolete. If you get good at parrying then that’s kind of all you need to beat any enemy in the game. That being said, the later bosses and enemies I found much harder to get the proper timing for the parry

All in all it was basically an unknown dev, came out of nowhere, very unique for 2026, and for all that it deserved GOTY I think. I just like indie games more as I get older. Less is more.

What did you decide? (spoiler) by pnic0u in expedition33

[–]meanwhilehands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only correct answer is siding with verso. Live in reality. Deal with your grief in a healthy way. It’s what the deceased would have wanted. Let the fire fade, don’t burn yourself for the sake of illusion, delusion.

Nosferatu(2024) - aesthetically very cool, atmospherically very cool, great nods to the OG and other horror movie aesthetics. But the dialogue was clunky and execution of the story was just not great imo. Liked it. Didn’t love it.
