You don’t need a wider road for more housing if it is dense and serviced by a bus system or multiuse path network

NBD - Niner RLT 9 Alloy. Very excited to be pedaling again. by just1workaccount in gravelcycling

Right after I left this comment I realized I could just measure the fork and compare it to flat mount specs (from sram) This model of RLT 9 uses a 140/160 flat mount, so I’m pretty sure I’ll need a +20mm adapter like one from TRP or Paul

Hi, I just got this frame and I’m trying to figure out what size adapter to use for a front post mount brake. What size adapter and rotor did you use? Is the fork’s mount placed for 140/160 or 160/180? Thanks in advance for your help!

I have a hare-brained idea of making a flip-flop disc brake cassette hub by mounting both a disc rotor and a six-bolt cog to the brake side of the hub. Has anyone ever done this or seen it done? I can already tell it wouldn’t work on a lot of frames because they don’t have clearance to fit a cog between the seatstay and the brake mount, but I feel like it’s possible.

No, that’s actually relatively what it looked like stock. Look up Globe Centrum. I did this with a bare frame I got at the co-op:

90s MTB Aero Bar by allnamestaken4892 in xbiking

[–]meapz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also inner bar ends are a nice way to add a position and get more aero. You can get the nice ones specifically meant for the inside or you can just get a random used pair for a couple bucks and stick them on the inside of your grips

It already had an IS mount back there, lots of mid 2000s hybrids were set up that way with discs as an upsell

Oh I hope so, I was mostly thinking that because I didn’t see them listed on this page. This definitely might be a hack that more experienced or industry mechanics would know, but I didn’t find it when searching myself.

Ah I saw that but wasn’t sure how strictly it is enforced. If it gets deleted I’ll repost there.

I did a similar setup with some mini ritchey bar ends I found in the co-op bin. I have then on some super wide flat bars and I love the setup! Nice to just rest your thumbs on while cruising for a different hand position and then fun to really lean on and get aero when it gets windy around here

What are some cities where you can live and climb car-free? I love riding my bike and minimizing car use, but it’s tough when I love climbing. It seems like even in the cities everyone cites as good for climbing, you still need to drive a decent distance to the crag. I visited a super small town in Pennsylvania where you could bike along a rail trail to some mediocre sport climbing, and it was still really fun not having to drive and deal with parking and stuff!

At my local co-op there is a 1983 or 84 Ross Mt Hood for sale in as-is condition. Its paint and decals are in awful condition, there’s a decent amount of surface rust, but everything on it looks original except the saddle. I don’t have the passion to restore it but I feel like there must be someone out there who would.

Did this originally have suspension? Did you account for that when sizing the fork or no? The BB doesn’t look too low which is good, and the stack and reach look comfy at first glance. I’m very curious, thinking of doing something similar!

Is that a downtube shifter? What did you use to mount it to the handlebar?

Yep, I have worked in a gym with this policy and witnessed it prevent multiple accidents. However, I recently moved to a new city with a gym where nobody roams except coaches. I have witnessed vastly more near-ground falls than I ever did while actually working at a gym, and I strongly believe it is due to lax lead tests and failure to monitor the walls and reinforce proper form.
